My guess is we bump up to a 6th year and 35 million.

    $210 million

I wonder if 5 years at a record AAV would work. Something like $210M/5yrs. At that point Correa would only have to sign for $120M/5yrs after that (covering his age 32-36 seasons) to get his $330M.

There was zero chance about a week ago unrelated to the work stoppage. Him not signing with anyone yet and the Astros re engaging are very encouraging.

That’s my thought process as well. It’s possible one of his suitors takes it to 9 or 10 years, but the longer it takes, I think the more likely it is that his decade-long deal doesn’t materialize. Kind of crazy seeing the other deals on the market and knowing that CC may very well lose out. We’ll see. Boras will use HOU to leverage other teams to up their offers…I don’t think we’re quits there just yet. I’m also not sold that NYY is out simply because of their additions to date.

Why do I feel like the rug is going to be yanked out from underneath us?

I hope I'm wrong but it does feel very "getting the rug pulled out from under us." What do I know?

Ooooh. I still remember this day well. I was driving back from Indiana after visiting my family. Sports news stations were blowing up saying we were about to get Bosh. Then…boom. Man, I was crazy disappointed.

With the luxury tax being bumped up to 230 mil this gives the Stros a little over 43 mil this season.

There's a possibility that LMJ doesn't pitch this yr (and I'm basing this on his tweet yesterday saying it hasn't healed yet. If it hasn't healed by early June he needs to have surgery or risk missing next season as well).

With that said, JV innings will be monitored as well as they want him around (and hopefully healthy come playoff time). So that leaves them with Valdez, Garcia, Odorizzi & Javier.

There's a strong possibility that they'll need to make a trade at the deadline and if they eat up most of their cap space for this yr by signing Correa their options will be limited that is unless Crane is willing to go above the 230 mil.

I'm all for bringing Correa back but it would behoove them to try and leave as much cap space as possible given the make up of rotation. You have guys who've spent time on the DL as well as just being young and haven't pitched a lot of innings in their short careers.

In my opinion Crane will have no issues going over the threshold one year.

It's the second year and second threshold that owners and front offices of larger market and teams intending to compete usually worry about.

The window remains open if Correa is signed. They have pitching depth.
