If the Yankees really are out on Correa it is hard to find a $300M+ potential suitor for him. The Angels still make the most sense to me but there have been almost no rumors to that effect. I don’t think he will be back in Houston but I just don’t see where his asking price can be met.

If even the Yankees are not willing to take the risk on Correa, it makes me think no one will. He's simply not worth the 10 year deal he's asking for.

Hopefully this makes him adjust his expectations and he signs a shorter deal to stay here.

I think he goes with a patented Boras early opt out plan (or simply a 1-2 year deal outright).

if so, crane 100 percent has to be on it. We cannot allow Correa to go to another team for a contract that is 7 years or less. Doubly so if it is the Yankees.

If it’s the latter, for any number of reasons I’d see the Astros as the prohibitive favorite to make that deal.

At this point, Baltimore could likely offer a 10+ year deal but not a lot of other suitors.

Astros have their original 5 year deal on the table. If Carlos can’t get something longer, I see him trying to negotiate something shorter or add the opt out in. Very little chance he signs a 5-7 year deal with anybody with no opt out.

Can they offer this contract to Freddie Freeman? I don’t see why they wouldn’t

Don't think he will do a 1-year, but it looks like there might not be any long term deals that he's looking for. Much better odds now of him taking a shorter term deal with an early opt out.

It seems like the field has cleared and the Astros are the last team standing in this competition for Correa. DON'T OVERPAY. He shopped us, came up empty, and now it's time to re-adjust expectations. If this were a business deal, I'd lower the offer if I were the Astros.

Maybe only on a 1-year deal, but my guess is Correa comes back to the Astros.
