Jeter is pretty **** when it comes to defense. I actually looked up who has the highest career DRS and it's Andrelton Simmons. He's also a free agent. If we can't sign Correa, I wouldn't mind picking him up for less than 10 million even though he really doesn't have much of a bat. We can spend the rest our available money on CF.

Not mentioned but I think another significant factor: Michael Brantley.

He's gone after next year and we now have ~1.5 years of him being borderline unplayable v LHP. I think he's going to get far more rest in what will be a non-platoon platoon - so they really need four "full-time" outfielders. Tucker can play either corner OF (+CF) and I assume Marte can, as well.

The RH half of the platoon doesn't come anywhere close to full-time - they end up getting 30% or so of the ABs. And ideally, you're hoping to fill those ABs with someone who is great against LHP. Marte's been a reverse split guy his whole career - he's a righty who's better against RHP. He strikes out a bit more and has a lower average against LHP.

It's good TV, but you really shouldn't say something like that no matter how true. Everybody wins awards for various reasons. It's a no win comment to insult an all time great, but especially when you want New York money. It doesn't seem very well thought out given you plan those interviews well in advance. And it sets you up for failure if and when you make a gaf. Foot in mouth if you ask me.

I find AJ Hinch to be extremely relatable, personally....including the parts of him that were criticized in his efforts to avoid confrontation. His strengths and weaknesses I relate with a ton. I wish he was still here, but I get it.

A washed up big leaguer who is jealous and bitter about another man about to make a lot of money.

Just “save it” is probably what he intended.

Scooter Gennett used to be teammates with Joey Votto, another good guy who's not afraid to speak the truth, in Cincy. He should tell him.

Hypothetical for you guys that likely will never happen but curious anyway...

Would you be opposed to the Astros offering Seager the same 6/$210M contract that has been rumored Correa was offered?

If you had to choose one deal/player, would you rather sign Correa to a 10/$320M ($32M AAV) deal or Seager to a 6/$210M ($35M AAV) deal?

Edit: And don't be a smart ass that replies "this is dumb" and/or "neither you idiot".

Sure.... but he's not going to take it. There is no scenario in which Correa will get significantly more than Seager. One will set the bar for the other.

I agree on AAV but just don't see Seager getting the same length as Correa. Maybe I'm wrong but I would be shocked to see them both get 10/$300M+ deals.

Anyhow was just curious how this board viewed Seager as I haven't seen any talk about him (for obvious reasons) and personally view him as a better hitter with a weaker glove compared to Correa...but he's no slouch fielding either.

Edit: Not that it means anything but I saw a report today saying Seager is looking to sign a deal before December whereas it seems Correa is going to hold out for every penny he can squeeze out of a team.

Seager for $210/6 and it’s not even close. SO much less risk in that deal.

Oh yeah, Scooter, I'm sure you'd rather be at home tweeting about a dude that's about to get his bag instead of making millions playing the same game you supposedly love. ******* do I hate sanctimonious chucklef*cks like Gennett.
