Mark and Rich or Charlie in the afternoons?

I think a lot of people just don't know what 790 is out there. Otherwise, I can't think of any reason why Marc and Rich's ratings would be better than Charlie's.

 

Rich and Mark make my ears bleed.

 

i have some thoughts on this:

1. i keep my dial on 610 at work...just easier. it's what i listen to all day if i'm not listening to a CD.

2. 790's signal on the west side of town ain't so hot. i can't pick it up at all in my office. i get 610 clear as a bell. i don't know about other parts of town...but i was driving in from san antonio on saturday night trying to pick up the playoff NFL games. i was in Katy and couldn't pick up 790 clearly. seriously...Katy.

3. i don't like the solo thing. charlie is smart...but not entertaining enough to carry a show on his own. that's just my opinion of course, but if others share it then the numbers would support that.

in all seriousness...if 790 is gonna make a run at this thing, they need to get a local show quick for the mornings. i enjoy mike & mike...watch them on ESPN2 while i'm getting dressed in the morning. but once i get in the car with the radio, i'd much rather hear local sports programming than the same national stuff i can get 24/7 on multiple media.

 

i love listening to Charlie. he's eloquent and i can't get enough of his metaphors.

 

the best decision 790 made besides palilo is getting rid of that Fox morning show crapaganzza. I'll tune into mike and mike when casserly or another of those guest shows come on. but yeah other than that, they would do very well to put a local team in.

 

it's a taste thing, for sure. i didn't like charlie when he was on 610, even.

 

omg, i never laughed so hard in my car on the way to work listening to them. They had some of the best quotes i've had heard in weeks.

Rich: "This car is having trouble getting through like David" *crickets in the background*

"I wonder if he has OnStar, calls them up and says 'whats the fastest route out of Houston'"

yes...but i have a radio in my office. it's what i use. it's what i prefer.

 

All sports talk does that to me these days.

 

charlie knows what he's talking about! He's hands down the smartest out of all local guys...he doesn't have to BS around like Rich and Mark trying to make it sound like they are more knowlegeable than they really are.

 

Fine. Keep listening to your static on 790 and your Sunny 99.1 easy listening crap while I'm listening to clean streaming audio. It's what I prefer.

 

Charlie is hands down the best, but I used to enjoy him more when him and Rich were together, they were by far the best sports-talk show in town.

Now, however, with Marc I can't really listen for too long, I just find myself bored rather quickly with them, and find myself listening to Charlie for the most part.

790 is not as well known or established as SR610, but I think their ratings will continue to go up as they establish some type of an audience. Also, they need to do what SR610 does and become the 'flagship' station for a few Houston teams; SR610 has the Rockets, Texans, and Longhorns -- KBME has nothing as far as I can tell. If they can at least land the Astros and may be 'Aggie' sports, I think they will be in a better shape.

As of now, however, I listen to SR610 a lot more simply because they talk local sports for the most part and I just have more familiarity with guys like Matt & Adam and John & Lance. I think the only segment time of the day when 790 has SR610 beat (as far as quality is concerned) is when Charlie is on in the afternoon, but even I will admit that Charlie needs a sidekick if he's to do better with the ratings.

 

I live in Spring and their signal seems to crap out in the evening and doesn't clear up til morning. 610 use to have the same problem. Every day at certain time it turned to static. You could set your watch by it. I think Chance said it was them turning the antenna or something. 610 seems to have fixed that problem or they just do things differently this time of the year. I probably should email 790 about it and hope they can fix it.



I don't listen to Sports Radio as much as I use to. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with all the changes that came when 790 went on the air or if it's just a coincidence.

 

Marc and Rich- They know so little about the Rockets it does not surprise me they are not well liked here. Rich does know alot about MLB and its history. I think Marc is hilarious and I am pretty sure he is crazy.

Matt and Adam- As opposed to Marc and Rich i actually get their jokes because they are closer to my age. Their pure knowledge blows away M&R especcially on Rockets. Wex is a stat freak.

Never listened to Charlie much.
