Marion overrates himself. He is not overrated by basketball fans.

Ok, where are the quotes that Marion says he is the best player in basketball. He thinks he is under appreciated which he is. If he ever went down with an injury(very very unlikely) the Suns would be an above average team in this league. He means so much more to that team than people realize. The problem is he hasn't gotten hurt or if he is, he continues to play through it and gives 100% effort every single night ON BOTH ENDS OF THE FLOOR(possibly a dig on Nash). You can always see who is truly an MVP candidate when they go down with an injury and their team loses. This is why Tmac and Nash should be up there every year. Marion has not be so fortunate or unfortunate, however you want to put it. Marion has missed 11 games since his rookie season all the while playing 36+ min. every year. Either way, these are just words and if they Suns don't trade him and want to keep him(which they don't because they are cheap) Marion will show up like he always does and play between 80-82 games, avg. 18-20 pts., 10-12 rebs., 1.7 blks., 2.0 stls., 2.0 asts. and you won't here a peep out of him. But you guys can go on thinking he is TO JR.

Suns Teammates want Marion to stay.

In THE EAST VALLEY TRIBUNE, Jerry Brown writes “Steve Nash last talked to Shawn Marion in July, after trade rumors had “The Matrix” heading to Boston in a Kevin Garnett deal. Coach Mike D’Antoni spoke to Marion in early September, about the time the Suns and Utah Jazz are known to have had at least cursory discussions involving a possible Marion for Andrei Kirilenko deal. Raja Bell called Marion Tuesday; the same day Marion went public with a request that he be traded from the Suns — preferably to the rival Lakers, where he can join forces with Kobe Bryant.”

At this point I'd say a guy like Gerald Wallace is more underrated than Marion, but Marion definitely delivers on both ends of the court. High FG%, high FT%, good blocks and steals #s, and shoots the 3 competently. He doesn't deserve the max or anything, but he'd be a huge loss to the Suns.

He deserves the starting max which is around 12 mil a year, but not the 20+ million a year he wants.
