Donny is right...As having a torn pectoral muscle myself, I can attest to the injury. If they do in fact have complete tears, the season is over for them. To continue with a pro career they will have to have surgery, and have it quick. After surgery, its 6 wks in a sling with no movement what so ever for your arm. After that, its 6-8 months of rehab. If they don't have to have surgery and its a partial tear, I'm sure they its still several weeks for the muscle fibers to heal up. Its kinda crazy for 2 guys in the same game to go out with this type of rare injury as pretty much only happens in weight training and football.
Kind of crazy? Dude. What it is, is funny! Seriously. I'm delirious from the ridiculous luck we've been having. Numb & delirious. Who's with me?
http://www.chron.com/sports/texans/...illiams-to-undergo-MRI-on-injured-2210530.php A little odd that he didn't return if he didn't feel any discomfort. Maybe the Texans were being extra careful until an MRI was done. The city of Houston will be holding its breath until we find out the results of the test tomorrow.
funny how last year we would all pray for an injury to mario so that the texans can move on without him. This years he's playing well enough that we are"holding are breath". Count me in as the guy who wants him back in time for a playoff run.
Torn Pec yep, per schefter who just broke it on sportscenter. i love being a fan of houston sports teams.
Could be out for the season... http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7083480/mario-williams-houston-texans-indefinitely-source-says Houston Texans linebacker Mario Williams has a torn pectoral muscle that will sideline him indefinitely, if not for the remainder of the season, a person familiar with the injury told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Williams is undergoing more tests Monday to see if there's any hope the Texans could get him back later this season. Williams appeared to be hurt while sacking Jason Campbell with about five minutes left in the first quarter of Houston's 25-20 loss to Oakland on Sunday. He was taken to the locker room and did not return. Coach Gary Kubiak offered no specifics to Williams' condition after the game. "I'm not a doctor, so I don't know," Kubiak said. "I hate to answer that right now in the state of mind I'm in. So let's see what happens. I'll get back with you when I find out." Williams, the top overall pick in the 2006 draft, moved from defensive end to linebacker this season in Houston's new 3-4 defense. He has five sacks and a forced fumble this season. The 6-foot-6, 285-pound Williams has led the Texans in sacks in each of his five seasons. He was slowed by a sports hernia late last year and underwent offseason surgery. Houston is already playing with star receiver Andre Johnson, who sat out Sunday's game with a right hamstring injury. The Texans (3-2) play at Baltimore (3-1) in Week 6.
It's 8:45 AM, I doubt Mario has even gotten off the MRI table yet. Does Schefter have spies at Methodist working for him or something?
i'm watching espn and they came in with breaking news saying it is a torn pec. i don't know how to link what i just heard with my ears.
NVM, found it: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7083480/mario-williams-houston-texans-indefinitely-source-says Welp, I'll see y'all next year.
According to madden 2007 it is. =( And Denver's premiere rusher, Elvis had that same injury last season.
So uhh... On the bright side we can look at how Reed does and Mario likely won't be asking as much in FA? On one hand I don't think we have a SB contender anyway with this ballclub. So it's not like Yao/T-Mac in 2008 and 2009. OTOH, given our cap situation, I'm not sure another year will make us any better if at all(assuming a draft pick in the 15-20 range). Perpetual mediocrity like the Rockets?
The guy from 610 radio came on myfoxhouston and confirmed it is a torn pec and said he's out 6-8wks or possibly the whole season
not really, just make the playoffs and anything can happen. It's how the nfl is designed. You can almost count that some team that should not have been in the playoffs will make the packers earn it. The loss of mario hurts, but I trust wade. He'll figure it out.
