Speaking of Vince vs. Indy...I was actually worried about that because the Titans played them tough last year. And if the Titans pull a repeat performance, I'll have to hear ridiculous stories about Vince again. Part of me really just wants to fast forward to December so that the world could see that the Titans are no where near a playoff team.
you're dealing with a group that believes running QBs somehow open up rushing lanes, that rushing yards are inherently more important than passing yards, and that a single human being's mere presence can resurrect an entire franchise... so i'm not sure you'll get anywhere with that one........
I'm not anywhere near a Vince Young fan, and i think he's a phenomenal player, and to think rushing yards by a QB is more important than passing yards is downright ludicrous, but i can't deny the fact that his presense does change the dynamics of the game and the attitude of the players.
VY stats passing... 11/18, 78 yards, 1 INT, 0 TD, avg 4.3 yards rushing... 11 attempts, 22 yards, 1 TD, avg 2 yards per carry 0 points in the 4th quarter. The Titans' defense forced two 3 and outs in the 4th quarter, NOT VY. I don't think poorly of VY, but at least I can recognize a poor outing when I see one. Heck their kicking game had a larger impact than VY did in that game. They ran the ball 49 times for pete's sake.
they also forced a turnover inside jacksonville's 10-yard line late in the 4Q. the titans might be better than i thought. if what they did defensively last year carries over (opportunistic unit that bends but doesn't break) and their OL really is as good as it looked sunday (dr. z pratically impregnated himself talking about it this week, as did collingsworth on hbo), then they could be trouble. you know, with so much focus on inflating/deflating vince young, i always fricking forget jeff fisher is their coach and, gd it - he's good.
Bingo. We all know Vince has other-worldly physical talent and amazing upside. But the truth of the matter is that so far in the NFL he has done very little, and what we've seen of him shows that his decision making is still suspect, his throwing accuracy still leaves a lot to be desired, and even his running ability so far isn't nearly the threat it used to be in college (how many yards did he gain on Sunday? 17?). Vince Young could be a hall of famer some day. So could Mario Williams, Matt Leinart, Jay Cutler and some of the other outstanding talents that were taken in last year's draft. But this ain't college anymore, and we're coming close to 2 years removed from the Rose Bowl. This is the NFL, and things are different. Everybody has to prove themselves again at this level. Mario is only starting to do so. Vince, so far, hasn't (other than this "he just wins" concept that completely ignores the contributions of his teammates and coach). Reggie Bush, so far, hasn't. I can think of only four players from that draft who have truly established themselves as bonafide superstars on the field so far: Joseph Addai, Laurence Maroney, Demeco Ryans and Marques Colston. When Baby Vince learns to complete 56% of his passes and actually muster a quarterback rating greater than 80, then let's talk.
David Carr completed a lot of passes last year, maybe he's the mj of football. I mean, that's all that really matters. go Fresno St
vince better than anyone for the texans, plain and simple, better than texans last year, plain and simple.
You were when you forgot DeMeco Ryans. Oh, and the fact that the Texans is not full of rookies. Just off the top of my head, AJ and Ryans were both better than Vince in terms of production and impact.
that's great, I'd still take vince over any texan, I originally meant qb, but since I made the mistake I'll stick to it. I'll take vince over andre and I'm a big andre fan. ryans is a great player, but linebackers are a dime a dozen in the nfll.
