I have Cutler as well as Leinhart. Since im at the bar on Sundays i get to see all the games on Sunday Ticket and Cutler looks a lot better than Leinhart. Leinhart gets flustered easily and just chunks the ball sometimes where as Cutler really does go through all his reads and makes a good throw. He's a smarter QB and will be better than Leinhart and he is right now.

I see him out in Scottsdale all the time. AND we saw him at a pool party and he does not look to be in good shape at all.

funny, he and bush are having trouble. leinart's arm strength maybe a liability though, he has no zip on the ball. not to keep bringing up vince but both schaub and vince aren't known to have strong arms, but their passes still have zip on them.

Geez ... this is such a slam dunk it's not even funny. Schaub against Atlanta versus Cutler, who has been underwhelming to say the least, going up against Indy. Thinking like this will lose you a lot of games.

Oh REALLY now? I am not portraying anything. All I've done is express what I see and believe and to me, this guy should have gone around 10-15 based on what I've seen. He's too much of a project player to rate being picked ahead of what was more highly rated players at the time. Sorry, but it really bothers me that the guy they took in the 2nd round played rings around the top pick in the draft and was named DROY. That's my OPINION which I'm allowed to have. Now as for your continued assertion that Williams would have gone 2nd to New Orleans and that virtually every other team would have snapped Mario up in a heartbeat, I simply don't buy it and never believed it but you are entitled to your OPINION in that Mario was the right choice. As I have posted before, in the end it will be up to Mario to show everyone that he was the best player in the 2006 draft. Nothing Bush does or doesn't do will change that fact.

Uh, that 2nd round guy played rings around almost everyone drafted ahead of him...

Doesnt really matter that you think Mario isnt top talent, but every single team in the league had him rated right up there towards the top. It wasnt much of a stretch for him to go #1. He was going to be top 3 no matter what...he has that kind of talent.

I don't want any piece of this quarrel at all, but just to throw onto the table a piece of evidence I came across while searching for a Reggie Bush SI cover to match the Mandarich cover, I found this one:

On the "Dr. Z's Mock Draft" on the right in tiny barely readable text, it clearly has Mario going #2.

Metcalf was much more productive as a running back and was never shy about getting hit.

That's what I've been saying all along! Feel sorry for him I don't think so. Remember the digs and the chiding we got from his backhanded commercial plugs? Remember, how much excrement was getting piled on us fans, the owner, the organization? Hmmm ... now one year later and who's the sorry ones now! It's obvious, Reggie is a media mogul in the making and five years from now you'll see his broke ass doing commentary/analysis for ESPN and Reggie will put the "men in black" flash ray on everyone to prevent memories of his failed NFL career to replace with his USC glory days.

Truth hurts, the Saint fans have just been punk'd. Imagine the pain when they're here in little over a month. The derision by the National & NOLA media for another meltdown may make Reggie cry like a little girl. :D

    and?
Saints had just picked up Brees in the Off Season . . they had a competent QB [unlike the texans]
so why would they draft another

I am actually more OK with the Mario Pick than a Reggie Bush Pick
    never liked Reggie

Also, All the Carr is ok Propaganda around that time was just so sickening

None of that post was "truth". It was your opinion. A very plausible one at that, but nonetheless just an opinion.

I don't think Reggie will have a failed NFL career. Barring injury, he'll be around awhile with moderate success IMO, but he certainly won't live up to the hype.

your opinion is wrong, mario was a top five picks on most draft boards. bill parcells said he had mario number one. its not an opinion, its a misinformed analysis.

your point about ryans is just out there because apparently every team in the draft had him as a second round talent. so that's neither here nor there.

    give up

It's pretty much common knowledge that Mario was the highest rated defensive player on the board and that, had we drafted Reggie (LORD, I'm glad we didn't), the Saints would have taken him #2.

Hillboy, if you're going to slam the Texans for taking Mario too early, you need to slam every other NFL team as well because he was the top defensive player on EVERYONE'S draft boards and he woudn't have made it past the top 5 picks under ANY draft scenario.

And I really don't understand why you have a problem with Demeco winning ROY instead of Mario. Demeco was a GREAT find in the 2nd round that every team in the league passed on....why are you laying that on Mario?

Bottom line--we picked the #1 defensive prospect in the draft at #1. Is that really such a stretch?

    2. Saints
    Mario Williams, DE, NC State
Len Pasquarelli, ESPN.com senior NFL writer: Saints would prefer to move down and take someone like Ohio State linebacker A.J. Hawk, but aren't getting many offers. Even with two former first-round ends on the roster, Williams is too good to pass up.

On this link, 4 of the 6 columnists said the Saints would take Mario at #2. None had him going past #4.

yup. Mario was going #2 unless the saints traded. The VAST majority of teams had him as the best defensive player. Of course mario is/was a project...so is VY, so is Okoye, so is 90% of the guys in the draft

And knocking mario because Demeco is an exceptional player doesnt make much sense.

I read on another forum that it's rare to get a stud DE in free agency..i.e. you have to draft them. Any truth to that? I remember reggie White leaving Philly but that's about it.

What are you talking about? Cutler has not been underwhelming, he is averaging 265 yards per game and has a TD in every game. I got him late in the draft and he's been good enough. My team is 3-0.

Schaub has only 1 more TD and 1 less INT, and fewer yards per game. He has a higher completeion %, which is worthless for fantasy.

And going against Indy is a GOOD thing for fantasy. If the Colts get a big lead Cutler will be forced to throw a lot and rack up the yards.

Conversely, if the Texans get a lead against the Falcons, Schaub will probably throw very little, as Kubiak likes to run the ball. Plus, Andre Johnson AND Jacoby Jones are out, and Andre Davis has a broken finger.

If Andre was healthy, I would probably play Schaub.

and nothing, really. i'm just trying to convince myself that mario was highly rated across the entire league, not just here in houston. that seems to have been the case.
