He didn't break tackles against decent college teams, so this was not a surprise to many of us. The guys his weight that break a lot of tackles are shorter, much more compact and thick in the legs. What Bush is in the pros-- a very nice trick back and great return guy--is what some of us who watched a ton of his college games and saw how Carroll used him were saying all along.

Also, how ironic the most impressive 1 yard run that I can recall from MNF was from LenDale White. Not that I think he is all that great, but no question between the tackles he is and has always been better than the "once in a lifetime" back.

brown and white were punishing saints' tacklers. the titans have an identity. they're bullies

88 yards rushing between 2 RB is hardly punishing, much less bullying.

watch the game. did new orleans get their ass kicked on offense and defense? yes. anyone who saw the game and doesn't think so needs to pull their head out of their stats.

Bush has a lot of upper body strength, but his legs aren't that big. Look at Maurice Jones Drew compared to Reggie Bush. Maurice is like a bowling ball. Reggie looks like a receiver.

of course the Titans dominated on offense and defense as evident by the score and 5 turnovers. but what does that have to do with White and Brown "punishing the Saint's tacklers".

they averaged 3.1 yards/carry. i'm not even saying the Titans offense was inefficient. but it was hardly predicated on the play of White and Brown.

I'm really surprised how bad Maurice is doing. He looked so good last year.

I was worried he might be a fluke. I had him last year, and he got drafted before I could take him for this year. Turned out well for me.

I'm talking about actually punishing them, hitting them, running right at them. physical running, I'm not talking about the stats or the role running played in the win other than the physical abuse and subsequent mental abuse.

You're right; I meant to say it's going too far (overrating) to mention him alongside Collins, Hornsby, Morgan, et. al. IMO he's one tier below that. Which is still pretty freaking amazing.

The things that stand out in the article that are frightening to Saints fan is

    1. Not as fast as he seems
    2. Can be covered by a linbacker
    3. Shies away from contact

what the h*ll kind of back is that????

I was looking through a Sporting News mag today (the Sept. 10 issue) and they ranked the top 100 players in the NFL. I got the biggest laugh when I saw none other than Reggie Bush at #24. I thought to myself, you have got to be kidding me, 24th. How overrated can you get, seriously.

And also I see towards the end of the list AJ Hawk, but no Demeco Ryans. It felt like they slighted him a bit and maybe that's a little bit of homerism, but Ryans did beat out Hawk last year for DPOY.

AJ Hawk is a damn fine Linebacker. He might have even finished the year better than DeMeco last year. I'd say he's a little better in pass coverage than DeMeco, while DeMeco's a better tackler and therefore better against big running backs.

His list starts off really bad with the bottom 5. Vince Carter isnt a marksman shooter but he's not a TERRIBLE shooter either. Its his soft, style-over-substance game that narrows his effectiveness. Chris Webber's career hasnt been AVERAGE lol, what the heck's this guy been watching? He was a fake franchise player but he's making it like he's some Antonio Davis or something. Not many players you can think of thats a better passer at power forward than Webber, in his prime or even now. & The only things about anyone's EVER cared about John Daly were his long drives and his dysfunctional life. Every knows he's too sloppy and drunk to be taken seriously as a real contender.

Top 5 isnt that bad. Those all are guys that had everyone fooled. Though he says Bush is advancing "towards" the top 5 then goes ahead and writes him already IN his top 5....

I hear ya on Webber. I don't like the guy but he was a fantastic player in his prime and used to be one of the best players in the league.

Why isn't Garnett on that list? When I think of overrated athletes his name will always be at the top of my list.

P.S. Don't answer that question. I don't want to derail the topic at hand. :)

vince young has an almost identical rating with cutler and both are ahead of the struggling leinart. I like leinart to start because i have fitzgerald in my fantasy league and he has better chemistry with fitzgerald while you will see bouldin's numbers go up with kurt warner. i think it has to do with the type of receivers, boldin's a more across the middle timing route guy and fitzgerald is more of a deep jump ball guy. kurt warner is obviously a more timing qb.

there's your arizona football take for the season.

Leinart looked unimpressive to me. Not a strong arm and very inaccurate and of course not mobile at all. But at least his mechanics are pretty.

Cutler doesnt have many TDs this year, but he is throwing for a crapload of yards. He is also getting 8.4 yards per attempt.

I have Cutler and Schaub on fantasy. I think I'm going with Cutler this week, he'll have to throw a lot against Indy.

People on knocking on him cause he's into the celebrity life. spends more time partying than on football. I did see that guy in Vegas (Jet Nightclub) last year prowling for the honeys.
