Yeah, at this point I'm thinking He should be in one of those Real Men of Genius Commericals. Like, We salute you Mr. Expansion Team General Manager.* You made a superior team after 5 years........... You signed David Carr to an 8 million extension only to find out he would be released When everyone thought p-burnt wasn't going to live up to his potential.. You had faith in him. You traded a million draft picks to move up and aquire the sack artist formerly known as Jason Babin. When Derrick Johnson was available you traded down for Travis Johnson. Here's to you Mr. Expansion Team General Manager! *jingle jingle*
Well obviously in the context of the Mario pick ... he definitely had a litany of questionable/bad moves during his tenure, but the point is, Reggie Bush could've been our problem.
I feel bad for all non-USC fans because apparently, they can have agents buy families houses, but other schools can't have players "work" at car dealerships.
Off top5's signature link: Why does Los Angeles still not have an NFL team? It's hard to compete with USC since they don't have a salary cap.
I don't understand the attitude that just because Bush is having a subpar season it somehow vindicates the Texans' picking Mario over him (who's having a somewhat quiet season himself). It all strikes me as rather petty but that's just my opinion. Looking at the game last night was like deja-vu all over again. The Saints' offensive line looked like that of the 2-14 Texans - tehy couldn't block anybody. The Saints are 0-3 this year because on offense, they can't get anything going at all: Brees has no time to look downfield and looks like Davy Crockett at the Alamo back there while there are no holes for RB (Duece before last night) to run through. I was astonished at how bad their OL played. This is the team that played in the NFC Championship game? As for Tennessee: I didn't think for one moment that the Titans would be as bad as many here had hoped but they simply cannot as good as they looked last night can they? Sixteen games into his career, VY is looking better and better and they actually do have receivers who can make the big play. That Oct 21 game with the Titans is shaping up to be a real war.
it wasnt only this year. Last year he wasnt that impressive (to me at least). Catching dump off passes and being a below avg runner doesnt impress me that much. Also, Mario wasnt called the best NFL prospect in history or the greatest college football player/
It's not about that so much as the absolute bashing the city took in the wake of not selecting Bush. Every columnist in the country, even guys like Chuck Klosterman, were ridiculing - not ripping, but ridiculing - Houston for that. And not just in April, but for a solid 6 months. If you drafted someone alarmingly high in your football draft and took a humiliating amount of sh*t for it....and then that guy went on to be a major stud.....then right now you'd be looking to give it back to the smug ***holes who got LdT or Stephen Jackson. No one likes being ridiculed. Evan
Signed, Dave Meggett, Eric Metcalf and Larry Centers. Good use of 65 million, Benson. NOLA's D looks hopeless.
yup. i dont know how one could forget how much flack houston took for that move. And whats even more silly is that they ridiculed houston for not taking bush when it was even more obvious that not taking VY was the real "mistake". granted, it all seems to be working out now. Texans have a more than capable QB and they have a legit RB (if he stays healthy)...and the defensive front looks very stout for years to come.
On the Fox Pregame show, they were talking about whether the Texans were now justified in the selection of Williams over Bush. Jimmy Johnson replied simply "Well...they shoulda taken Vince Young." I'm glad its working out. My biggest complaint with bush is we would have just tied way too much money on that side of the ball had they drafted him. This is more reason I don't think Casserly had a say in the draft, I think he would have picked Bush 1, Mario 2 and VY 3.
This is a very good post. That's the context this all falls in HillBoy. As with people being upset about Carr talking noise before the Panther game....it's all about context.
for what? only reason bush ain't a texan was his refusal to sign before the draft it isn't like cash-shirley made the right call Rocket River
