Talks a little bit about being interviewed for the head coaching job (no real insight though), the future of the Rockets, mentions he's a free agent himself as his contract with the Kings runs out, touches on Casey, Frank & McHale, talks playoffs, Scott Brooks, old times, traveling, TV series & movies, music & a bunch of other stuff.

Also note that Elie, like Sikma, might have been notified by now that he's not a finalist for the head coaching job.

Elie: "This [Rockets] is a place [where] guys want to play." regarding FAs. wow, sure hope he's right.

    A nonstatement.

Guys want to play here because it's one of 30 places in the entire United States where they can make a whole lotta cash playing a game. So, sure, guys wanna play here.

I'd like for him to get a HC chance but the Rockets in their middle of the pack stage but still think they can be a playoff team next year isn't the right time to break in a rookie HC that isn't deemed one of the top assistants in the NBA.

Would be cool to see him as an assistant.

Would you also consider it a nonstatement if he said the opposite?

Nonstatement is a nonword! Elie was obviously speaking relatively...

I don't think he meant they'd rather play in Houston than in Kiev. Pretty clear he meant they'd rather play in Houston than other NBA markets.

I'm nonsure he's right, but who knows.

We are probably nonsure about that....as assistant coach. But it sounded like he misses Houston...as in his adopted town.

Sounds like he'd do it, but surely it would be a money thing, too. As long as the money is there, and he doesn't demand to be the top asst if the HC wants his own guy...why not.
