toast, the rockets were never going to resign elie in the first place... so i don't know what your point is
He has watched the movie Airplane one too many times: Jiveman1: Sheeeet, man, that honkey mus' be messin' my old lady got to be runnin' col' upsihd down his head! (Subtitle: GOLLY, THAT WHITE FELLOW SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM MY WIFE OR I WILL PUNCH HIM.) Jiveman2: Hey Holm, I can dig it! You know he ain't gonna lay no mo' big rap upon you man! (Subtitle: YES, HE IS WRONG FOR DOING THAT.) Jiveman1: I say hey sky, s'other say I won say I pray to J I get the same ol' same ol. (Subtitle: I KNEW A MAN IN A SIMILAR PREDICAMENT, AND HE ENDED UP BEING SORRY.) Jiveman2: Knock yourself a pro slick. Gray matter back got perform' us' down I take TCBin, man'. (Subtitle: DON'T BE NAIVE ARTHUR. EACH OF US FACES A CLEAR MORAL CHOICE.) Jiveman1: You know wha' they say: See a broad to get that bodiac lay'er down an' smack 'em yack 'em. (Subtitle: EARLY TO BED, EARLY TO RISE, MAKES A MAN HEALTHY, WEALTHY AND WISE.) Together: Col' got to be! Yo! (Subtitle: HOW TRUE!) Together: Sheeeeeeet! (Subtitle: GOLLY.)
Before the season was over, his name was on the trading block. We could have received something for him in return, yet because he's a bit of a hot head, we got nothing.
Mix in a spell check, for starters. I ain't threatening you with anything, other than I might help you pull your head out. "Hose (who's) to say Houston will win a title within 3 years?" Me. And probably about 100 other posters in here. It's not that unheard of, especially considering we have a majority of the pieces in place. This team basically needs a little veteran leadership and a kick in the pants about playing defense, and that will likely happen starting this season. I do give credit where it's due; I think you're having the problem with that. It's like you're discounting what the Rockets did--once against the Spurs, no less--just because it happened "9 years ago" (8, actually). You're the one hating, not me. Stop making up words and start respecting what the Rockets did just the same as the Spurs. And you'd better pray to God that Shaq isn't getting in shape like I'm hearing he is, because anytime he wants, Duncan and the Spurts will be his b*tches in the playoffs--check your history. Hate to say it, but I've never seen TIM DUNCAN block the first three shots Shaq took in a game. On the other hand, I HAVE seen that happen to Shaq before...
Sorry but I am not going to boo a guy that made 'The Kiss of Death' just because the Rockets didn't want to resign him to an overpriced deal and just because he wanted to stay in the NBA longer
So the Rockets can make good business decisions, but Mario Elie can't? If it's a "business," like you're so adamant about stating, then you should respect the fact that Mario made a good business decision, just like the Rockets. And dude got a ring that year and we didn't, so what's your problem? He doesn't HAVE to do anything for us. The way it works is his contract was up, he had some options, and he took the best one. Not to mention that he helped us to win TWO banners and nearly a third before he left. So get off the guy and quit hating with NON logic. If you wanna get pissy about the way some guy left our organization, pile on Scottie--someone who never helped us win a single thing and who b****ed all the way out the door and into the next season about our team, coach, and city like a little girl. GET OFF OF MARIO.
Agreed, his skills were clearly in decline and the Rockets management thought he was done so they let him walk. Too bad he had enough left in the tank to help the Spurs win their first NBA championship. This bashing of Mario is unwarranted. We should be bashing the Rockets management. I have been watching Richard Jefferson play in the NBA Finals and I STILL cannot understand why the Rockets traded 3 1st round picks for EG while having NO intention of even looking at this guy. There's a major disconnect with our talent evaluation and reality.
Because Richard Jefferson would be nothing more than a Rodrick Rhodes at best without Jason Kidd manning that team.
What is that? I wanted to ask if this was English, but someone already did. Here, let me try that. Thij gusk jawea nhcvioje jklasdi thkladh thaeihd kasth. tkuj dsah adim, dsajiliw
Well guys I live in SA and watched one of Marios interviews. He went on to say that "D Rob was the classiest guy hes ever played with." When asked what he thought about Mark Jacksons play he went on to say that "it reminded me of the time I took great pleasure dropping three's on Houston after they got rid of me." And right before Mario ran off from the reporter he went on to say, in an angry tone, that "all these years everyone in the leage thought that David was soft, but he is having the last laugh now, Barkley won no rings, Patrick Ewing won no rings, Stockton and Malone won no rings, now David has 2."....... that last coment made me laugh After that interview the host of the show went on to say that Mario never has anything nice to say about Houston.......
Why would Mario be praising Houston in the moment of joy for San Antonio? What would be the point of that? If Houston had won a championship this year, he would be in the Compaq Center talking about glory days with the Rockets.
Dude, relax. I don't know about you, but first and foremost, I'm a ROCKETS fan. So if the Rockets choose to trade someone, it's for the better of the team. As former Rockets, those guys that get traded have a place in my heart, 'cause I loved 'em as Rockets. If someone leaves Houston because they're chasing dollar signs, that's their business, but giving up on my beloved Rockets because you're a millionaire who wants another million is a booable offense. Particularly if you bad-mouth my team upon departure. Good riddance. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. If you want to cheer a guy like that, whatever. But I certainly won't. Why do you have to call me names because I don't like your beloved Mario Elie?
Mario Elie did not like Sir Charles's loserish attitude so he started to grumble about it. You see, Mario knows what it takes to be a champ. Unfortunately, the media and Rox mgmt pandered to Barkley, so resigning Mario wasn't even an option.
When did Mario never give his all??? As far as giving someone a hard time because they don't want to be traded, well, thats human nature. Its not often that players are happy about being traded. Mario was vocal about it, but so was Hakeem. Mario has since shown a great desire to come back to Houston and coach. This is his home.
Mario was a piece who synergistically made others better. Charles was a component part of the big picture who made, in his latter years, everyone worse. Their careers are incomparable. So are their ring fingers.
Speaking of Hakeem. Didn't Hakeem pretty much bail millions for more millions and in the process throw a few verbal jabs at the Rockets organization? phew.. glad the Rockets didn't get suckered in on that whole affair or this team would be in dire straits financially.. even more than they are now. I'd rather Elie be an assistant than John Starks. Gina Gaston, whoa, way to go Elie!
