"Moscow Maggie" as Joe McCarthy dubbed, a prominent US Republican Senator who received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, addressed Congress, the President, and the Republican party warning against riding "the Four Horsemen of Calumny -- Fear, Ignorance, Bigotry, and Smear."

Delivered to Congress June 1, 1950

and I thought it was an interesting parallel to today's current situation of republicans screaming "communism" and "socialism", using the ramblings of extremists to further their agenda of fear mongering.

I also think it is an interesting history lesson about a prominent figure in American Politics, especially for a female senator who stood up to her own party during the Red Scare of the 1950's.

what did you think of the article, Juan Valdez, and how her Declaration of Conscience can be applied in the Obama Administration?

did you see the same parallels that I did? Did you bother to read it? She calls out both sides of the administration and shows an effective way of questioning not only her own party's leadership, but the majority led Party's leadership as well.

kudos to this moderate/liberal Republican and those that supported her cause.
