Living in Connecticut, I've been able to watch nearly all his games in college and I agree for the most part. His free-throw shooting is nothing short of excellent now, he's about 85% and perfect in the clutch (like in the tourney). Also, his shooting form like you mentioned has always been good, so it's very likely that he will improve as he becomes an NBA player. The fact that he tore Rajon Rondo to shreds in the second round should tell you that this guy will have no problems scoring in the NBA, considering that Rondo is a better defender than most NBA point guards. Also, I cannot express how great a passer he is. He singlehandedly made Josh Boone and Hilton Armstrong into first-round picks. I personally believe he's got the best court vision of anyone not named Steve Nash or perhaps Jason Kidd. Yao would have no problem getting the ball in the post from him.
Williams is always forcing the ball inside, he has supreme confidence in his passing. Josh Boone and Armstrong aren't exactly the greatest scorers either, but he made sure they got easy shots every game. He shoots a bit flat-footed, so that is a scare, but if left open he will drain shots with relative ease. His floaters need work, he attempts a lot but hits few. This is why his shooting percentage is low. I don't see why he's "another short guard", he's a pure PG, he's not going to play SG in the NBA.
I really like this kid, and if Roy is gone at 8, I gurantee it's gonna be someone named Williams we take. I love his poise in big games and really knows how to exploit holes in defenses. He reminds me more of Chauncy than Deron the way he walks the ball up and looks at the court. Very confident with either hand and isn't afraid to take the big shot when left open. Love the way he thinks out plays, very smooth.
Why draft a PG when our SG spot is completely unfilled and our PF position may as well be? Rafer has serious weaknesses but those other two spots are much worse off.
