I didn't see this posted elsewhere. If it is, please lock. (And maybe it isn't worth its own thread, who knows.) http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterocke...ton-is-becoming-frustrated-with-limited-role/ Rockets guard Marcus Thornton went from not playing at all Friday against the Spurs to playing 11 minutes off the bench, most in the fourth quarter, on Saturday in New Orleans. He had nine points on 3 of 5 shooting, but said his uncertain role is “frustrating.” “It’s very difficult,” Thornton said. “I have to keep myself in the game, see what’s going on from afar from the bench. When I get in, keep doing what I’ve been doing my whole life, put the ball in the basket. I have no reason at all. That’s the frustrating part. You don’t know. You have to go with whatever is going on and be ready.” Thornton, a native of Baton Rouge who played at LSU, said he was happy his family saw him play, but that it did not make up for taking a loss. “I could have been in there earlier to help my team earlier than the fourth quarter,” he said.
And so it begins. The team starts to unravel due to a lack of leadership in the team and organization. This could get ugly. DD
Posted in the JB Bickerstaff strong words thread.... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=10213376&postcount=149 It may have been lost amongst the other stuff.
That's understandable. Not knowing if/when you are going to get in the game is certainly frustrating for a player, especially when you feel you can contribute.
JB was and is the wrong choice. He doesn't have the credibility to take a team through a tough spot like this.
Thanks. I figured it had to be somewhere but didn't feel like click, read, click, read.... In any case, I think it deserves to stand out. Bickerstaff does some things right as a coach but among his failings is the blind spot he has for his boys, especially Brewer but including Terry and TJones. DMo slipped from memory a bit, what with the injury. Obviously he has rust to shake off, but it'll take awhile to do so when he's getting weird spot minutes in this odd rotation (and with the team getting the boards it desperately needs from Capela).
can this fkn season end already? I'm all for being supportive and all that but eff this year. Eff it to the ground.
Our back court is really complicated right now. Terry, Thornton, and Harden are all defensive liabilities, so it's difficult to go small and have your front court cover up all their mistakes. The reason Brewer is getting so much time is because he gives us something on defense. I don't like it any more than the rest of you, but we flat out can't throw any 3 player combinations of Lawson/Harden/Thornton/Terry out there, which means someone has to sit. I didn't appreciate this as much when the season started, but we've got to get more defense in this rotation. At the same time, I think Lawson may have turned a corner and needs more minutes to run the offense.
He's a scrub. We started winning when we benched him and played Terry instead. Don't get me wrong, he's been a nice addition and he's not the problem. But he's not a savior either. Garm loves to think some scrub is a savior
ClutchFans used to complain that McHale would use the same eight or nine man rotation game after game. Now the rotation changes from game to game and ClutchFans are complaining. It would be nice if one of the reporters covering the team would ask JB what he is trying to do with the rotation. However, I'm sure JB would just say he's trying to find something that works. Let's be honest though. If JB used a consistent nine man rotation, ClutchFans would be wondering why the other five guys aren't getting any minutes.
