Completely different situation. Lin was picked up on a non garunteed 10 day contract. Flynn has a garunteed contract. Both were battling for 3rd pg. Ten days really is not a lot of time for a team to evaluate a player. Rockets cut the non garunteed money. Cutting Lin was a money decision plain and simple. Morris is a lottery pick with high expectations and has gotten beat out for playing time by a pare of 2nd round picks. The Rockets have had lots of time to analyze him now. If he were better than Chase he would be starting. Cutting Jeremy Lin was a money decision. Not playing Marcus Morris is a basketball decision.
Dude TWill has beaten out Bud for time, and he's a knucklehead. Chase has been up and down all year. Its silly to have so many inconsistent players at both foward spots and to not give your lottery pick a shot at proving himself when he can play both spots.
Actually look at Lin's career. He played in NYK because of an injury and not because he 'practiced well' Truth is you don't know what you have until you play it. and it's unfortunate some teams learn this too late. Unless you are a coach for the team or have video footages of the practices I'm not willing to say with certainty that he was out played. How about this. Give the guy some decent minutes and we'll see if he continues to get outplayed. Play the man, you never know what might happen or the kind of player you have. You can't seriously know the complete package if you are just going by 'practice' I mean we are talking about practice here and not the game...not the actual game. Not the game but practice man. It's just how you read it. That statement as written could be interpeted as "I've never been a loser, but this time 'the situation' feels a lot different". The word "it" is undefined. It could mean losing, but it doesn't have to.
Well that is not even in the same damn galaxy of true. TWill has not beaten anyone out for playing time. TWill when he plays has not been good when given the opportunity. Bud has been very up and down, TWill has been very down.
Who are you going to take minutes away from at small forward? Parsons is not only playing solid but he is really starting to look very good. I don't see Morris being anywhere close to Parsons on defense and I worry about Morris knowing what to do on offense when the ball is not in his hand. Some players just take longer to mature and maybe next season or even after the trade deadline depending on who is traded he will get his opportunity. I still like his potential and still think he will be a good player.
I think Kevin Martin's terrible defense is a big part of Morris not seeing playing time. I think it's the main reason Parsons got some play early and the reason he keeps playing. You can't have any hope on defense with 2 wing players that can't stay in front of their defensive assignment. That is an assumption though considering I haven't seen Morris play defense in the NBA.
