As I was reading the first line of your post , I was thinking ..... the last line.

You just dont experiment when the playoffs are on the line.

If they were a team say like Charlotte who had no thoughts of making the playoffs .... I'd wager he would have gotten considerable minutes.

We see players fail on one team then be signficant contributors on others - Gerald Wallace anyone ?! - all the time.

A coaches job is a difficult one ..... one I dont envy.

This. You can't play looking over your shoulder. He needs mins to find his way.

That's why many of us feel the Rockets should be in full rebuild mode.

Their priority should be playing their young guys and seeing what their potential is win or lose instead of trying to eek out every win they can.

You are right about Wallace and a lot of other players, a lot of players go elsewhere and break out...but the Rockets cannot afford this any more. If they ship out Morris they better be damn sure IMO that they are not shipping out a player they could have used...or even a player they could have upped the value of and then traded.

I am hoping he'll get his real shot next year though.

Practice, the same way every other rookie does. Pouting about it on Twitter(sound familiar?) certainly isn't going to help his cause.

Except he didn't post it. He retweeted it. Since a lot of his fans wuold follow him on twitter, could be just his way of saying "Here's a article about me if you care to read it."

Doesn't necessarily mean he agrees with the article.

Also you guys should be happy if he's mad about not getting PT. Only scrubs like Thabeet are more than happy to rot on the bench and never play. Real players WANT to play.

There's certainly not enough data to suggest this is a trend, but the Rockets may want to look at how they evaluate talent. The reason is that the Rockets seem to hit a lot more on the lunchpail guys more than those who come in from success.

Look at the players that blossomed under the Rockets. Landry and Parsons were nobodies going into the draft. Lowry, Dragic, Lee, were never considered anything beyond rotation guys. OTOH, the guys that seem to ooze with potential like AB, TWill, and Morris have not done so well. I include Brooks here because he couldn't adjust when the team no longer revolved around him following his injury.

I think they need to take a different approach with certain players. Either that, or simply draft more guys like Parsons and Lowry. Nitty gritty players who play defense and may develop an offensive game. Rather than the other way around, hoping a guy like TWill or Morris learn defense.

    When did Morris become TWill?

So many people continue to make this argument that Morris is trash because he couldn't beat out his competition in practice.

First of all, how the hell does anyone know that? Even if he did tear it up in practice it doesn't mean he would have been awarded playing time anyway. Sometimes coaches play the guys they are more comfortable with, regardless of talent or ability.

There have been plenty of players who have failed to make it their first year (or couple of years) that eventually blossomed into all star talents. Give the man some time, he'll eventually prove to everyone that he deserves a spot in the rotation.

He didn't become TWill. But he is similar in that he's a guy who needs the ball to be effective, and that he has to work a lot on his peripheral game. Neither has seemingly improved in this area during their time here.

I give the Rockets sort of a pass on Morris because of this wacky season. But make no mistake. Morris did not take much of a step forward from a development standpoint. And that's basically half a season wasted.

Well, he tweeted something today about haters just wanting to be where he is and being unable to...sounds very twill-ish, hopefully it's not a trend.

He never got the mins consistently. Bud and Ppat had many nights where they gave you nothing. You really had nothing to lose by playing him, it wasnt like you were winning the title this year anyways. Giving him a few post up opportunities would have been interesting. His development is very difficult to gauge since he never got consistent time. Imo, he could be a nice piece as a scorer off the bench. But oh well, lets root for next year's 14th pick to get time.

Its unfair to Morris to say he hasn't improved in that area like Twill. Twill was here for basically a full season and has had more opportunities than Morris. Twill bombed with 2 different coaching staffs as well.

Morris also hasn't played enough, especially early on, to say he did not take much of a step forward. He's hardly played at all, when he did, it wasn't long enough for him to get in any kind of rhythm. Most players won't show much in a minute or two of action, especially a rookie.

I just hope that Orlando gives him some minutes when we package him in a deal for Dwight Howard.

...and it wasn't good. It's was too obvious the writer was angling to push an idea.

It just reads like another Bleacher Report type fan blog.

    2 wins - 9 losses
