I'm not sure what overly quick means, but he had the same agility time as Carmelo in the Draft and from the looks of his draft combine footage he won most of the court sprints... I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing this guy in preaseason!!!
Melo is not overly quick, but he is powerful. Maybe him being laterally challenged is why Melo sucks so bad on D DD
I thought that as I was typing my last post.. If that's the case then great!! Morris is even more powerful than Melo and seems(he actually said he was) VERY determined to play harder D than Melo.. and he seems like the kind of chip on his shoulder guy to really mean that..
James, Durant, Gay, Granger, Melo, P. George, Batum, Chandler, Green, Thad Young, Derrick Williams, Beasley, Peirce, G. Wallace, Artest, Deng, AI. Those are the best SFs in the league. Not to mention Hill, Evan Turner, Wes Johnson, etc..... There are still 10 other SFs who are better then those two, who i cant be bothered writing down. Where does that leave Morris and Bud? How will those two compete with all those guys mentioned above? At least Singleton had a chance to be an elite defender. He will be better then Ariza and Barnes, thats still quiet a bit in this league. What does Morris really give us at the 3 compared to rest of the league?
No one knows for sure, but I think he has the ability to put up 15 a night as a rookie, and 20-25 a night a year or two from now. I wouldn't count out Marcus Morris as a plus defender at the SF, either. A gritty, tough competitor that can knock down the three and post up with the best of them. It is incredibly rare to find a SF that can post up and score efficiently, while also sporting a silky smooth jumper from deep. All of that said (Obviously I like him a lot), I DO think we need a different SG for the future. I think we need to find a young Vernon Maxwell/Cuttino Mobley. Someone that can step up to the challenge and defend the elite SG's... Kobe/Wade etc... Someone that is fearless, and maybe even a little bit TOO confident/cocky. I wish Terrence Williams would grow up and become that guy, because he could be so freaking valuable. I see it like this... 1. 2. 3. Marcus Morris 4. Patrick Patterson 5. Morey's first chance to build HIS team, without Mac and Yao... I am PRAYING to Darwin for no lockout. I am more excited for this season then I have been in years... (When we got Ron with Mac/Yao)
I think the main difference is that some people are asking "How does Marcus fit in with Lowry, Martin & Scola?" My question is "How does Marcus fit in with Patsquatch?" In all honesty, unless Daryl pulls off a miracle, I would be very surprised If 2 of Lowry/Martin/Scola are still here when we turn this ship around. When we do turn this ship around, I suspect that Marcus and Patrick will be two of the three players responsible. (On a completely different topic) 3. Robert Horry 4. Otis Thorpe 5. Hakeem Olajuwon 3. Marcus Morris 4. Patrick Patterson 5. Dwight Howard
I don't think that is possible, but I do think he is already a fundamentally sound defender. The question is If he can be a plus defender. Regardless, the guy is a scorer. He just needs to be tough, big and competitive as hell... Look at how far Paul Pierce has come with the proper tutelage and lashing... (Kevin Garnett)
Oh hay, Marcus Morris dunking on some dudes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJDXETy2j6s Its extremely short, but hey, its better than nothing. Looks like he has pretty good hops. Atleast he isn't 30 pounds overweight from the lockout. Also, here are some highlights from the event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlicNGS5e5E A few glimpses of the Morris twins, can't really tell them apart however..
Marcus is #2 and his brother #5. He throws a lob to his brother in the beginning and gets a breakaway dunk later.
I don't expect him to ever be out of shape in his career. He and his brother seem like top notch professionals the way they approach the game.
The Morris twins play in the KU legends game. Video of the game is behind a pay wall on KU's athletics page. Paul Pierce played in the game along with Mario Chalmers. Marcus went 5-12 from 2pter and 1-5 at the 3. Link below with more information. http://www.kuathletics.com/sports/m-baskbl/recaps/092411aaa.html
Thanks. Not that it matters, but pretty sure it's 4-7 on 2pters and 1-5 on 3pters, equaling 5-12 on FGs.
