He turned out to be not trash 5 years later. who cares at this point. He was trash while with us, and then below average for a couple of seasons after. It's not like he turned into a superstar, he just finally became serviceable on a good team/system after spending so many years bouncing around the league.
Morris had lots of maturity issues. It's not like this is his first stop after Houston. He had issues being away from his Brother. He got arrested. This is his 7th year in the league.
Bottom line, McHale is an idiot and should never be a head coach or any team's executive. Morris has been a good player for a few years now.
Who cares? Seriously, who cares? We're the best team in the league, so apparently Murray knows what he's doing.
Morris was traded mostly because of where the team was at the time when they had a glut of young PF’s and decided to roll the dice with DMo and Jones who had extra years on their contract and potentially bigger upside swings. Especially DMo who was first inserted into the starting lineup after the trade. I have to believe that the front office got enough observation and data to believe Morris would end up being an undersized stretch 4 rotation player off the bench, and they knew what they had with him. They also thought they wouldn’t need that role to win a title for years. When they needed that role years later it ended up costing them quite a bit, but PJ Tucker at the 4 has been a nice surprise at his cost so I think in the end, we didn’t really crap the bed on trading Morris. Except for the Ryno signing which might not have happened otherwise.
