I was wondering why the Bulls would be considering waiving the guy. He does have some value. Maybe no other team would trade for him, knowing Chicago might just be forced to let him go.

When healthy, Fizer always seemed decent. At least he's closer to a legitimate 6'8", not very tall, but look at Clarence "We-Represent-the-Lollypop-Kids, the-Lollypop-Kids, the-Lollypop-Kids" Weatherspoon.

All this talk about upgrading the 4 got me wondering -- Is Antonio McDyess a bust? Is he basically over or what? Sitting behind Amare, it's not surprising he doesn't get PT, but what was the problem with the Knicks (after he finally came back from all those injuries)? Were the Knicks trying to shop him so they didn't want to risk injury? Doesn't make sense because you need to show that your guy's got the goods, especially coming off a serious injury, before you can get other teams to bite.

But the upshot of my question is, would it make sense to go after Antonio McDyess? His contract expires this year, I believe. He flirted with joining the Rockets years ago. Would he really be an improvement? Maybe for the MLE?

    I may be mistaken, but...

If we pick up Fizer off of waivers, we pick up his contract. I don't know what his contract is (it may be the rookie contract), but we are bound by its terms - leangth, cost, etc.

If he clears waivers, he becomes a free agent. Now anybody can sign him for any amount that the new team and Fizer agree upon.

Why would he come here and be one of many power forwards? My guess is he would go to the place that offers him the best chance to get playing time, so he can demonstrate his abilitues. He proves himself over the last 20 games on a cheap contract, then is in a better position to sell himself next year. Much as Mo Taylor did when he left LA to a big thud on the free agent market.

I wouldn't want him. Wouldn't help the team out any. I want the Rockets to be at the top of the league, not always pushing for the 8th playoff spot. We need to think big. Marcus Fizer sucks.

The question with Dice is health. If he demonstrates that his leg is OK he'll get someones MLE, at least. If he appears healthy I hope it is here, right here.

No more than I'd consider Grant Hill a bust.
