It is rumored that Marcus Camby is not happy to be in Denver? The Rockets need rebounding help, could we possible swing a deal to land Camby? Possible Cato for Camby deal. We are building a great team and we need a tough rebounder in our rotation. This deal would qualify the cap and give Denver a center. It would also cut one year off our payroll. What are your thoughts?
That wouldn't be a bad idea since camby would not have to play very many minutes here. I'm not sure if Camby wants to be a backup nor do I think Denver would do it.
BTW, why would you trade for a smaller version of kelvin cato? dude is NOT a great rebounder, is sullen, and spends more time on the IL than anyone i know. hell. no.
that's a hilarious photo A-Train. But I don't know what's worse. Mr Glass or the Misses <img src="http://houstonrocketsfan.tripod.com/cato/111501catoshaq.jpg"> <img src="http://houstonrocketsfan.tripod.com/cato/112001catoblazers.jpg">
To my great surprise, verse is right about Camby's rebounding. He has higher averages the last two years than Cato but only because he plays more minutes. Cato's 7 rebounds per game last year (who knew it was so high?) wasn't too shabby at all. I won't suggest, though, that Camby is a worse player than Cato. Even so, he's a walking injury.
the only reason marcus camby is a household name is because he played in new york. if he had spent his entire career in toronto, no one would know diddly squat about him. new york is notorious for pumping up their athletes. which, btw, is another reason to bring up shandn andersn. dude sucks. not even playing for the media god knicks can give him a reputation as a decent ballplayer. ok, maybe that wasn't a reason to bring up shandn. i just felt like lobbing an insult his way.
I don't think that this deal would fly, just for the simple reason that IMO Cato is not a tradeable player. He was and still is an underachievier, and proably always will be. Camby on the other hand is an emotional mess, and wants to be catered to, too much. This IMO is why he is unhappy in Denver. The rockets need a lot of help, that, unfortunatly they are not going to get anytime soon, and Ming isn't the answer either. They have a good young nucleus in francis, griffin and mobley, what they need now is a quailty big man in the middle, here again, Shaq has a job already that he is probably not willing to give up anytime soon. Ming may develop in a few years, but I wouldn't hold my breath. IMO
Someone just told me there's some unnecessary Shandn bashing going on somewhere in here. cool Time for an unnecessary Van Gundy quote: <blockquote>Van Gundy on his bench players "There are a lot of patterns on our team we're repeating. When our starters give our bench a good lead, there's a pattern that our bench gives it back very, very quickly," said Jeff Van Gundy, who replaced Mark Jackson with [Howard Eisley] and the Knicks leading 75-61 with 1:36 left in third quarter. [Shandon Anderson] replaced Allan Houston :21 later. Detroit went on a 19-0 run and stretched to 32-5 when Jackson returned."</blockquote> He called it a "pattern."
You are welcome to your opinion, but would you care to share why you think so? Otherwise all we have to argue with is: "Well, I do think he will develop!" Not exactly the way to have a constructive conversation.
Camby can opt out after this year. I expect Denver will allow it and be 94% under the cap next year. If Camby had health he'd be -- Bo Outlaw. I love Bo, but Rudy never gave him any love...anyone know why?
I love Bo, but Rudy never gave him any love...anyone know why? I have had season tickets for U of H off and on and followed them closely back then , so I remember about Bo and was a big fan.. I heard a call-in show quesion to Rudy about Bo prior to the draft that year. Rudy was very patronizing: "You've got a like his heart and hustle and athleticism, but...., like he wasn't even a player at all. I believe that Rudy is biased against players who can't shoot very well. I believe Rudy a few later years realized his mistake and made a statement that he would have liked to get Bo on the team, but he was a free agent then and they just didn't have the cap space. At this time I don't really think we need Bo. Sure could have used him the las couple of years.
