So what happened to CD's claims that free agents would be lining up to play with Tmac/Yao? Both MJ and Banks chose other teams over us. One even took LESS money to do so. So we are left with Option C, which was prety much our last option, to bring in an Euro guard which we had the rights to to begin with! Sorry CD, but the charm of playing with Yao and Tmac cannot overcome the dislike to play for JVG.
I doubt Banks can flourish in a system that requires its players to pass and shoot, neither of which he can do very well. Plus, if he couldn't get playing time on the Celtics -- being beaten out by Mike James, an over-the-hill Gary Payton, Delonte West, Orien Greene and Dan Dickau -- where is he going to fit behind Steve Nash? He would have been much better for the Rockets, who can use his defense in close, low-scoring games, than the Suns. Still, you're not missing out on much, believe me. I hear he's a nice guy off-the-court, despite being uncoachable, though.
Not really. If the Rox feel that Banks is worth the full MLE, then comparatively their self-admitted top priority James (whose resume & skill set is >>>> Banks) is worth a lot more than the MLE using their own valuation. Getting him for that plus the silly trade clause is a steal, in the Rockets eyes. i don't get it. Of course all of this is likely moot, as there's no evidence Banks was offered it. is this what you're talking about?
I believe that the use of "stupider" while critizing the Rockets braintrust was what he was referring to.
Because after the best PGs turn us down, the crumbs we are left to pick up are a 2nd round draft pick from two years ago, and an undrafted free agent we waived last year.
Hmm...what could you be missing? Maybe the fact that I was talking about Eddie House, not Banks. Career = 37.1% 2005/6 = 39% 2004/5 = 45% 2003/4 = 38% Those are very nice percentages for a guy that has to come in off the bench cold and hoist up shots in a hurry. Not a lot of time to get a rhythm going, but that doesn't seem to be a problem for him. One of the quickest releases in the league, too.
