US Reps are filing a motion to have George Santos expelled from Congress.

 

Eh, it was brought by Democrats, so it won't reach the floor. It would be embarrassing for a lot of congressmen if they did have to vote on it.

 

But now they're saying he committed check fraud to steal puppies for an adoption event: Santos was charged with theft in 2017 case tied to Amish dog breeders - POLITICO

There are your run-of-the-mill politicians who will lie to gain political advantage. But this guy must have an actual psychological illness. I don't think there is anyone in politics today who compares.

 

I there are a couple of Republicans who have signed on but yes McCarthy will keep this from getting to the floor.

She's more grifter than crazy. That's MTG except the hot part. That lady is actually crazy.

Honestly, the media seems to be making more of her than there is. I don't see much crazy or grifter here. It sounds like she has a mixed heritage, Mexican on her mother's side at least, with some central or eastern european on her father's side. Growing up, she identified as liberal but also wanted to embrace her father's identity, take his last name etc. He's catholic, but probably has a medley of ethnicities including maybe jewishness. Later in life, she became more conservative, probably while in the armed forces. She also decided to embrace her hispanic heritage, either for cynical political reasons or genuine identitarian ones. Big deal. Not remotely a Santos situation. They've also got some stuff in there about a break-in, but who knows if they're conflating two events -- given the way they want to make this into a Santos story, I don't trust they've done their journalistic homework.

That transcript, submitted by Ogles with a job application more than a decade ago, shows his major wasn't in economics nor international relations, but in Liberal Studies -- a general education degree generally for those who can't settle on a major.

And contrary to Ogles' claims, the transcript shows he enrolled in just one economics class — a community college Principles of Economics course — where he got a "C."

He was also forced to take developmental-level Intermediate Algebra — essentially the high school course — where he got a "B," then he was allowed to enroll in College Algebra.

The grade there: also a "C."

Ogles' transcript shows he got a "C" in American History, although he did pass a total of nine Political Science courses in the 17 years that it took him to complete his degree.

But, in the fall of 1995, the future congressman enrolled in U.S. Presidency, Problems in Government, Political Theory and National Security Policy — and flunked every one of them. And three years later, in the fall of 1998, it happened again.
