Gut feeling? These things almost always play down to the last minute. Teams want to see if they have a shot at the playoffs, how desperate other teams are to deal, whether another team might waive a player rather than trade him...
I'm shocked nohing has happened yet.... I figured there'd at least be a couple minor moves awaiting assetization day.... figured the big chips wouldnt move til later - but something... lol
Ilyasova seems ike a no brainer to me Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand why there is apparently no interest in Erdan Ilyasova from the Milwaukee Bucks. This turkish kid is a 6-10, 240lb 24 year old PF averaging like 20 / 10 the last 4 or 5 weeks. He's sitting on a $2.5M expiring and he says he wants to play in a larger city market. The kid is not a great defender, but he's an aggressive rebounder, can score inside but also has a nice perimeter game.
Puker from BSPN just posted this (bold face type is mine): RicBucher Ric Bucher Luxury tax concerns could put a damper on magnitude and volume of deals, but it's guaranteed Rockets' roster will be different on March 16. less than a minute ago
It would be the ultimate birthday present if on the morning of march 16th I wake up to find out we landed a superstar.
My birthday is tomorrow... just hoping I dont get a Pau Gasol - that would be equivalent to getting a gym membership - something I dont want that I would have to hear about for a longtime to come... lol Had the Gasol trade gone through before the first games (Xmas) - thatd been like getting a fruit cake... something that was gonna take up space for years to come that no one else would want... lol
I would gladly take Gasol. Give me an all star caliber 7 footer any day of the week. Pair him up with Dalembert in the front court and you're not an easy first round exit. Lets just hope we can unload some of these 09ers that aren't producing.
So this tells me that maybe Morey is still working on "The Deal" but has "A deal" lined up if he strikes out... How do you guys interpret it?
As Bucher stating the bleeding obvious??? We have a stack of expiring contracts. There's always a team wanting to 'free up' cap space for the summer, and they tend to overpay to do it. Morey has had a knack of taking assets from teams in this fashion for years. Not an overly bold suggestion by Bucher IMO. Wow - the Rockets will have a vastly different roster = either a big deal happens OR there's the 'end of roster churn' that happens each year. Nice safe way to make a "told you so" prediction.
Yeah, I'm not sure about that. Morey has already shown his hand. Dragic/Martin/Scola... And with no Nene, it might just be Martin/Scola.
The mantra has been a PG and at the very least an All Star quality one if they have to deal Pau. If not they just use their Odom TE and keep Pau.
If you're talking about Gasol, there has NEVER been an interest in dealing for Martin. It's just crazy to imagine it. Why would the Lakers take on a 2 guard with a burdensome contract when they have Bryant? Martin is either staying or going somewhere else. He isn't part of a package to the Lakers. Maybe Scola, but not Dragic on an expiring either. The guy can be had in a couple of months if there was interest. Three-way deal with Orlando and the Lakers wind up with Lowry and Dwight and give up Gasol and Bynum.
I can see nothing to talk about. Time to go do something more exciting like visit me mother in law. Rockets basketball is so boring under Morey.
