Honestly, the Grizzlies could go much further without . . . Rudy Gay. Gasol and Z-Bo, on certain nights can match the effectiveness or best the duo of Bynum and Gasol. Along with an athletic and versatile back court last season was one of the reasons they were one win away from Western Conference Finals.

Gay is a fantastic and versatile forward, but he's replaceable and his possible trade value could improve the team's overall roster. Last summer on the rumor mill, there was speculation Memphis rejected a trade for the #4 overall pick, simply for Gay. Though, I don't see the enamor of him, sometimes.

You need dynamic, unselfish guy in the back court to make that dynamic work.

I dunno if upgrading Scola into Gasol is worth losing Parsons and Kmart. At least we won't get saddled with Turkey's contract. However I don't think LA will settle for just Dwight in that deal, I think they also want Dragic/Lowry.

I don't see that as just an upgrade, I see it as a complete changing of the entire organization.

But then again, I value Gasol much, much more than most on this board.

The Magic don't want Gasol's bloated contract... but most everyone on this board is chompng at the bit to get him.... talk about a 'treadmill of mediocrity"....

    No one wants Gasol :p

New Orleans passed on him. Orlando as you mentioned.

"Here Houston, you can have Pau. We'd rather have Martin, Scola, etc."

You think they can honestly with a straight face also get Lowry and Dragic after already getting Dwight Howard and Luis Scola?

Rockets can look but don't touch. :p

The closest the Rockets can get to a superstar is helping another team land one. :)

All those "great" Daryl Morey assets going to waste?!

If this team doesn't make a significant change its going to be extremely disappointing.

it's not even about getting or giving with a Gasol trade... it's an 18.7M+/yr cap hit for the next 3 years.... people on this board goin bat***** on wanting to trade/amnesty Scola due his 'decline' and his 4 yr 8.5M+/yr paycheck... Gasol is gonna be even worse... a THIRD of our toal cap goin to a 31, 32 and then 33 yr old.... cant believe people are wanting this!

Why do we need a star for? We have Morey.:)

He is our star and I strongly believe that this year, Stern will hand us the Championship trophy just because our stud GM has been trying so hard to land a superstar.

    In Morey we trust indeed.

If they don't get a star, we can always make paper stars.
