Some teams may also see some more mileage in T-Mac than most may anticipate. Bird rights can be a powerful thing.
It's always easy to spend someone else's money but I just can't help myself. Common Les take Dalembert's contract it's only for one more season and he will be just as tradable at next seasons trade deadline as TMac is at this trade deadline.
I have wanted him for years but now I am SCARED of that contract. He's too old and his shooting percentages just aren't that great. And he's got 2 more years left after this season, big money, and he is a defensive sieve. Don't see the big benefit of having him here anymore. If he was 40% out at the line...maybe. But age, contract, lack of defense, and diminishing shooting accuracy make me not want him anymore.
Why do you want him so bad? He isn't any good defensively. He's a tweener, he can't guard PF's effectively while he is not fast enough to cover SF's. He's not that great of a shooter, he is not a good passer either, etc. What exactly excites you about this guy? His contract sucks too...
I never get caught up in the "Tweener" stuff, the guy is a 20-10 guy...and can spread the floor. He is versatile, smart, and just a great basketball player overall. I would trade Landry or Scola for him...in a heartbeat. DD
Yeah, as good as Landry and Scola are, Jamison is just on a completely different level talent wise. Also, his outside game would be a great complement with Yao
Agree, he's to fast for PFs and to strong for SFs when trying to check him, basically he's a bad matchup for most teams.
I think Jamison is more like a player we need and don't currently have, kind of Ron Artest style (without the baggage). I would give up Scola to get Jamison.
Yeah, probably his best years...might there be a few good ones left? (I traded him in my fantasy league thinking I snookered someone; but, no, should have kept AJ.
Why is every Rocket rumor centered around the 3? Because Battier (or Ariza) is destined for another hardwood floor to call home? Memphis has been loosely linked to Battier in recent weeks. Might they want to do Thabeet for him? Would DM the GM be interested? Inside presence who could grow in practice v Yao (next year, ala Deke in better times) and balance Bigs minutes protecting Yao? Just wondering...
The cap implications for next year and the following year, when Landry and Brooks will need to be re-signed, would be the only hold up on a deal like the Butler/Jamison/Haywood for Mac/Scola/JD swap. The question is: Would Les spend the money? 2010-2011 Cap Outlook Yao 17.7 Jamison 13.4 Butler 10.6 Battier 7.4 Ariza 6.3 Lowry 4.0 (estimated re-sign number) Landry 3.0 Andersen 2.5 Hayes 2.3 (assuming his option is picked up) Brooks 2.0 1st rounder 1.5 Taylor 0.8 Total: 71.5 If the LT is at around 65 mill next season, we're 6.5 mill over without retaining Haywood or picking up any other FA's. If you let Hayes and Lowry walk, you're right at it, maybe a little over, but I'd hate to let those guys go. The next season is a whole 'nother can of worms, but I think that's way too far away to really speculate about, especially with a potential lockout coming.
sigh... why do we need Butler? he is 6'7 shooting forward.... dont we have enough sf ? I know he can play shooting guard but i just don't want him... Not only that he is almost 30. Lets not forget he gets injured like every season. He is good but not good for our long term plan. We need healthy, young, and that can score!
If you're going to get a weekend rental car, why stop there? Put that same effort into buying a Rolls Royce.
This works for me... Wizards get: McGrady, Scola, Fernandez, Outlaw, and Cook (thats 33 million coming off the books this year for Washington so they can blow it up and start over with young pieces like Fernandez) Rockets get: Butler, Jamison, Miller, Przybilla (we get our guy with Butler, and a couple of guys who can spread the floor, plus a back up for Yao next year) Trailblazers get: Battier, Haywood (defensive stopper next to Roy, and a big man. they need both desperately) what do you guys think?
