I just can't justify giving up any rotation player for Butler other than Ariza. I would suggest our draft pick, but man Morey as been REALLY good at drafting.
IMO I'd be willing to do this. Lets us have some flexibility and we get to add Igoudala. This is also a trade I believe the other teams would be pleased as punch to do.
If we don't get a replacement for McGrady,Shane will no longer have a significant role on the team apart from what he is doing now and that is not going to be enough. If we can get a young player like a healthy Batum plus another expiring contract,I'm all right with it. If we can save significant cap room with Yao's/Battier's expiring contract that's good too. If we do re-sign Landry,Lowry and either re-sign or sign and trade Luis,it will undoubtedly cut into the amount of savings that we might get from Yao's/Battier's expiring contracts, which makes it even more important to get a good young player who can fit in with the future team instead of Shane.
Boston would LOVE this trade. They are wanting to trade Ray Allen anyways if it gives them a better shot at the title this year. Source http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/page/dime-100131/daily-dime . Battier isn't as good as Allen offensively but defensively it will give Boston an option at slowing down Bryant or LeBron come playoff time. Battier is also familiar with Tom Thibideux (jeez, spelling...) so he can slide right in defensively. Dalembert gives Boston an extra defensive big to soften the load on Garnett. Philly does this because they need to rebuild (do you really need a source?) While I would love to be able to get Speights in the trade with them I understand that both sides want sweeteners. I believe in the end that neither side will part with young talent but the trade will go down anyways so long as we find a taker for Dalemert. This is a very reasonable trade actually considering what I've read on this thread up to this point.
this trade wont happen. lots of reasons. first off budinger > butler and washington wont take ariza or battier. we have no minutes for butler plus he is injury prone plus he killed someone when he was a teenager, plus he is on the wrong side of thirty. morey only going for 25 under to rebuild, thats why he wanted rubio or iggy. teams are smarting up and morey can no longer "sneek up" on gms. they know morey is a genius so he is having a hard time trying to bend over with no lube a team plus he has les telling him "save money"..morey is screwed. we are stuck unless we tank and win top 3 pick .
On ESPN Trade Machine it says that Portland would need to cut $6 million from their payroll for this trade to work. Which makes this deal impossible, but if Portland is able to pull a trade off for Andre Miller (which they are rumored to do and his contract is worth just over $6 million) it could work. But its the NBA, so even if the deals do work from a basketball standpoint, its just too difficult to make big deals like that. Just thought it made sense...
Swing.....and miss..... caron is 29, didn't kill anyone, and please explain your claim that budinger is better than caron.....please
Which teams have the ability (trade exception or cap space) to take Miller without sending any salary back to Portland?
