It would be nice but Jamison is a 34 year old PF, we really don't need him right now. We have Landry and Scola holding that position wonderfully..

Butler is perfect because, he's can play SG or SF very well...just imagine this. If Battier or Ariza gets injured..Butler would be the guy to fill in. Plus Butler career average of 16 points 6 rebounds & 1.66 steals a game tells you that this guy hustles..he's perfect fit for the Rockets. Plus with only two years left on his contract, we can resign him or just let him go to free-agency its a good luxury to have.

I like the idea of getting Butler more than Iggy. I think he fits better with the team and concept and, of course, his contract is not as damning. If you get Haywood out of the deal, all the better.

But, it doesn't matter which deal is made, I think both are made by Morey to acquire assets for a future trade (to get a all-star) as well as leave some money to resign their own. A Butler/Haywood deal makes sense in this regard.

Hell, the Iggy/Dalembert does the same. Both deals would help the team for the remainder of the season and one or both players could be used in a sign-and-trade for one of the big free agents (Bosh, etc).

Hasn't Morey said that he is open to getting an All Star caliber player who is older but still has "some tread on the tires" or something along those lines? Butler's health/durability worry me and I think he is due for a steep drop off in production but I do think he would fit in this offense very, very well for the next two years. I'm also a fan of Haywood's game although at his age I wouldn't want to extend him more than two years beyond this season. I would be happy with this deal even if it costs us Scola (I think he's gone this summer anyway) but would prefer to see some part of Battriza go instead (prefer Ariza gets the eff out of Houston).

Morey is using McGrady's contract to try to bring a either a superstar or two stars. Butler qualifies as a star. So, if Morey is doing the Butler deal, it is with the idea of being able to bring in something else with Butler so that this offseason we have a big 2 or big 3 already. Butler is not a superstar. But he is good enough and his contract is the right size to be included in a possible S&T this offseason to bring in one of LBJ, DWade, or Joe Johnson.

But Butler is not the PIECE we are looking for. He is an extra. Morey is looking for a PIECE. As in CP3/Bosh/Amare. Those guys are superstars. Think about it. Yao/CP3, Yao/Bosh, Yao/Amare, any of those combinations is going to attract LBJ, DWade, or Joe Johnson. Now take a look at the Chinese market. You have the possibility of being a dominant franchise and you have the possibility of the Chinese market. IF.....Morey can somehow swing a deal for one of these superstars using McGrady's contract, without giving away the farm of our young talent, then we've got a shot at something very special.

Can you imagine a starting 5 of:
    Brooks
    Wade or Joe Johnson
    Ariza
    Yao
    Bosh or Stoudemire

That makes Brooks the 4th option folks. 4th option!!!!

We get Butler or Iggy, in my opinion, those are guys that could be combined with Battier and some of our young talent to bring in that 3rd stud. Then Morey does the Boston dance and picks up vet free agents to fill out the bench, guys that want rings.

Think TWO stars with the McGrady trade.

    Iggy/Amare
    Kevin Martin/Amare
    Butler/Amare

I wish the rockets would go after Chris Bosh over any Washington trade.
Im looking long term... Have a front court of Bosh and Yao and it adds height in the paint.

Butler sounds like a nice pick up but we need more height.

I'm not really sure why Washington does this trade with us for Butler and Haywood, considering they're not really saving much salary next year, except Butler's $10 mil. Haywood is expiring anyways. Wouldnt it be much easier for them to trade with another team, say Cleveland, straight up for Ilgauskas, instead of adding additional players for TMACs $23 mil?

Philli makes sense cause they'd be getting $25 mil cap relief next year with Iggi and Dalembert......Washington just doesnt make sense to me.....Unless we really are giving them an asset?

True that they are winning, but they know they are not going deep in playoffs. Plus the issue is if Bosh is going to stay in Toronto which is a good chance he wont. So the Raptors can try to trade him for talent now while they still have him

don't see how the Rockets would be able to have 3 max players on their roster.

If Chase Budinger is keeping us from acquiring Butler, Haywood and someone else(Miller PLEASE) then something is wrong here. I like Chase a lot but come on, if the Wiz want talent in return for a short term contract then give them the kid and a 2nd pick. I will put on my Rox colored shades and what do I see...

The wing player we desperately need who needs a change of scenery badly, a top 10 center (don't laugh just look at the centers around the league the dude is a double double machine with 2 blocks per game) and in the case of Miller we would get one of the better shooters in the game or at least more cap space if not him.

You're trading a dead contract, Chase and a high 2nd pick for an all star, all star caliber center(East conference) and possibly a sharp shooter. Sorry but its a no brainier and thats even without taking into account the flexibility of the expiring deals while keeping your core together. I know this will be sound NUTS but I really think, and I said this a month ago, we have the potential to be a top 3 west conference team.

    Brooks/Lowry/Conroy
    Butler/Miller/Taylor
    Ariza/Battier
    Scola/Landry/Hayes
    Haywood/Andersen/Dorsey/Yao

That's a deep team with a number of different guys who can score, also lets everyone slip into their true position and makes Ariza the 3 or 4 option that he should be.

I'd do this but I just dont see Washington giving us 2 expirings in Haywood and Miller back while only getting relief in Butler's salary next year. I dont see why they cant trade just Butler for another team's expiring 10 mil? Wouldnt that just be easier? Unless they really value Bud that much?

Yea I am going by what Feigen's blog mentioned that they want Brooks, Landry or Chase not Scola. If Miller isn't include that would suck but i'd still do it only thing is that they will need to include more salary like James' deal which would be fine lol just another expiring deal. I think Morey will push for Miller to be included but don't think he, like Chase, should be a trade killer.

If thats all it takes then ya, I'm in. Even more so than the Iggi deal just because I like the luxury of being a gazillion dollars under the cap for 2011.

If it takes giving up Chase then go for it. AB and Landry should be untouchable (except for Bosh).
