im not high on a butler or iggy signing. im not sure if butler or iggy can play with a center who demands much of the offense. those two guys can work with other swings and mobile centers so im not sure if they could fit playing with yao. just look at iggy. he cant play with brand down low. i think part of the reason why tmac ended up being a jump shooter instead of always attacking the basket is because he had a slow center clogging up the lane. so i assume he ended up taking more jumpshots because yao needs the post area to operate and i guess at the back of tmac's mind, if he misses, yao's there to get the rebound. so im thinking, if you bring in iggy and caron, theyre gonna end up as jumpshooters as well. i would rather get jamison as he would be perfect for yao. he's older than scola but jamison can play the 4 and can shoot the 3. it would really stretch the defense. and we still have landry to fill scola's roll of inside scorer unfortunately jamison's contract runs a year longer than yao's. but i assume we're gonna resign yao to an extension so that'd be ok. if we can get mcgee, along with jamison, it'd be perfect. id also ask for miller. he's an expiring and should help in developing chase's game. i would give them tmac and scola and a filler to make it work. washington would get a younger scoring PF in scola and a playmaking wing in tmac, who's also an expiring. and they still have butler as an asset to trade and they can start the rebuilding mode as early as next year. they would be free of jamison, butler and possible arenas' contract all in one year.
No thanks to Iggy/Dalembert give me Butler/Haywood. Iggy is not the kind of player you pay as a 1'st option salary to who will lead you into the playoffs and for five more years? No thnx. Even with him as 2nd option does not compensate enough to take over the team even with that salary. He's a over paid 3rd option on a good team and is not putting up decent enough #'s on a bad team.
Iggy is not worth the money he is making. Sorry. I would not like to see us tied into that contract for the next 5 years. His game has never developed like the sixers hoped it would when they chose to pay him all that money. Good player and all but not for that much. Butler and Haywood would be nice fits here. Butler can score in multiple ways and he gets to the FT line. He has just been in a bad sutuation in Washington. Haywood would be a good backup C. Will be interesting to see what happens. May be more than one deal made. We still have Cook's expiring deal and I think dorsey may be done here already. Those two are worth about 4 mil. May throw in J Taylor as well if Wafer passes his physical. Fun times....
Call me crazy, but a trade with the Wizards wouldn't exactly ingite excitement from me. I guess Butler would be better than McGrady rotting wherever in the hell he is these days.
How many championships do they have combined? I'll tell you who the greatest PG's are, and they did not lead their teams in scoring. Have you ever heard of Magic Johnson, John Stockton, John Havlicek, Walt Frazier, Pearl Monroe, Nate Archibald, Tony Parker, and so on? How are the teams of these PG's that you mentioned doing this season? And the previous seasons? Deron Williams, for example, is at par with the abilities of Chris Paul but he is a much better and effective PG for his team and the Jazz are a much better team for that. And DWil is not the highest scorer for the Jazz. The players you mentioned may be good as individual players but they are not very good as PG's. Brooks belongs to this group although CP3 is a much better player individually than AB.
I kinda get the feeling most of you guys only watch the Rockets and no other teams. Butler and Jamison are better players than all current Rockets (except Yao, healthy T-Mac). So many people here seem to judge players without actually watching them for a longer period.
