I'm predicting whatever team we trade Asik to will get fleeced. Unless it's a contender, Asik isn't going to make a significant difference in wins or losses for anyone.
I want no parts of Omer playing. In my mind his value only goes down as he plays. he gets hurt and you can say Kaput to any trade. Just let him sit on the bench. GMS around the league know what he can do. If they try to lowball Morey, hell just laugh at them.
Money has nothing to do with this situation. It's not as though he coasted through all of last season because he received his contract. The dude played the best ball of his career, only to lose his job right after his breakout season. If, in your job, you perform really, really well, yet someone new was brought in to do your job, your pride takes a hit.
I can't believe some of the excuses being made for him, assuming he really is refusing to play. Pride took a hit. Too good to come off the bench. Sucky situation. All true. BUT -- this is his job. Stuff happens at work all the time that I think is unfair. In fact, I'm currently looking for another job. But until the right opportunity comes along, I still go to work for the firm that pays me. You don't get to sulk and pout and refuse to go into work because you feel slighted in any other industry... why is this any different?
If the Rockets fire Asik, they will still pay him. If your company fire you, you won't get paid. It's that simple.
Because you are easily replaceable. There are only a few people in the entire world better than him at what he does.
That is a BS, prima donna excuse. It is still his job, and one that he is paid to do. Using that excuse, Harden should have full license to ISO for a full 48 minutes and never pass the ball because few people are better than him at what he does. Josh Smith should have full license to jack up ill-advised 3s until the Pistons are dead last in the NBA because few people are better than him at what he does. Sure, these guys are talented. But using that as an excuse to quit on a job you're being paid to do -- especially when you know your employer is trying to accommodate you and has been all season, even to the obvious detriment of the team -- that is a beeyotch move, and one that I don't respect.
But don't journeymen who spend some time with the Spurs say that in SA, unlike in other places, the stars don't get star treatment. Maybe that's why they've been so good for so long.
That just doesn't excuse his behavior (for me). It speaks volumes about his character (for me). Very disappointing.
I wouldn't say it has nothing to do with this situation. Next year he is playing for a new contract. He's not going to get a fat contract unless he's playing starters minutes. But, like you pointed out, pride is also a factor. There's likely a variety of things going on here.
If it did, he would be exceedingly stupid. The TT was the ONLY way he could play significant minutes. Anyway, I don't buy that. I didn't see him half-assing during the TT time. He had been playing fine up until they scratched the TT experiment, and then all hell was broken. I think it is more reasonable to believe that once the TT failed, he knew he was stuck and became unmotivated.
Sorry easy, but I have to agree with Sweet Lou on this one... You can tell Asik was doing a Kevin Martin and as the Rockets made a stand to prove their part... He was doing the same... T_Man
no deal, as the money I would win would go straight to the tipjar anyway. pardon me for jumping on you after others had already corrected, but I don't think you knew the difference between the two words, not just a misspell.
I feel for Asik in his situation but it's a business and you have to get Dwight if youre in the position to do so.
