Wizard???Kerr would be happy just to be a decent street magician, or maybe even just a guy who lights a match in front of a tribe of Indians 400 years ago. THe most significant contribution Steve Kerr has made to the game post-playing is being the "Ohhh!!", in TMac's 13 in 35.

phx wanted thr rox to waive the physicals for some odd reason and that should scare us off from any deals with them, i dont think amare would be the answer here say get bosh and thats it amare doesnt put us over the top hes a sometimes player doesnt play defense and is a slight diva, i woulda been mad if we gave up so much for a guy thats not certain to stick around

Yeah, metoo...weren't there 'some' questions about Landry's knee and the physical?

I suspect the deal was not quite as close as 'reported'??? BTW - I'd rather the same, or similar, deal for Mr Bosh...if only it is doable. BTW - if it were doable, can you think of anyone who might be able to put it together? :)

By giving up Scola, Battier, and the draft pick in a trade for Amare there is also a downside.

There is a risk in Amare leaving, in which case the Rockets have just given away their sign&trade assets and their starting PF. Perhaps that was a gamble they weren't willing to go with.

As it is right now, the Rockets probably feel that have a decent shot of getting one of those star players (with Bosh the probable high-priority target), but if that doesn't work out they still have their assets to pull off a deal maybe towards the trade deadline.

Its a tough call, and with Phoenix making a strange demand about waiving the physical, I get why the Rockets would say, "You know what? I'll pass."

Wow, if Morey refused to get Amare he thinks we have a great shot at getting a top FA in this offseason.

Why would you do such a thing? Battier is only playing one good game in TEN, in the other NINE games he is well below what he used to be.
Ariza is full of potential and young enough to develop into a major contributor, while Battier is in his waning years! :p

If the picks were included, that was too much for Morey to give up. Morey always wants to do a deal that upgrades and leaves the opportunity to upgrade in the future. Including the picks kind of limits his options. Morey makes his moves and increases his forward options. Truly predatory. Just waiting for the next gold coin to fall out of the sky and turning deals that increase his assets. LOL

Like another poster said, Morey is playing chess while most of the other GMs are playing checkers.

The players are fine, I don't know about giving up picks. Depends, though: would Amare sign with us, and for how much? I wouldn't want him on a bad contract. I wouldn't sign him for 6 years, for instance.

    this.

You can get away with having one player that doesnt defend, but having two in the starting lineup is something that would concern me.

Bosh seems to me to be a much better defender and a slightly better scorer. I'd pursue him first, and go with Stoud as a fallback if Bosh doesnt work out.

I am pretty sure Morey thinks the same way. Bosh is clearly a better choice. I think it was prudent not to do the deal at the deadline.

Amare is kind of the Kevin Martin of PF, a very efficient scorer and nothing much else. Bosh brings more to the table. This is important especially if we are going to lose Scola in the deal.

Not sure I particularly like the lineup.

AB, Martin, and Stoudemire would all want the ball in their hands. Yao would probably be the most efficient scorer out of all the starters, so the ball should go through HIM first. And then Ariza would complain that there isn't enough shots for him, etc, etc.

Someone from that starting lineup would have to come off the bench, and be the #1 option.

The prospect of having Aaron, Yao, Martin and Amare in the same lineup is overwhelming, though. We would be one of the top three offenses in the league right away. The defense would suffer, but, man, they would light it up. We have a better shot at getting Amare than Bosh.

According to the trade machine, this trade would not be good for us. adding shane battier, scola, cook, and of course the draft picks would improve the team offensively, but defensively it reeks.

Dude battier is 31 and Ariza 24, now we have martin he would have smaller role and be more comfortable, he would focus more on defense plus he is better scorer and more athletic than battier.

    Errr.

    Brooks
    Kmart
    Ariza
    Amare
    Yao

That's a contender. Oh, well, if they were willing to trade Amare for that much, no reason they wanted to keep him this off season.

If that's true, that sounds real fishy. I think Morey made the right call.

OTOH, had Morey pull the Amare trade off, a statute of him outside Toyata is minimum.

Wait this trade was in addition to the Kevin Martin trade? I'm not too sure how much since it would be to basically break up the entire team. We've got some nice chemistry here, obviously, I think that would've been too much of a break-up.

I must say, though, that on paper that team looks absolutely amazing. I might have to start a NBA10 association with that :)
