I'm thinking Novak has a good shot of leading the league in TS% (0.5 * points per scoring attempt). So far in the preseason, he's at 80.5%. No player has had greater than 70% since Artis Gilmore in 1982.

You know with time I can see Novak being a Chris Mullen type of player.

"I think we would test the imagination if we shot worse than last season," Van Gundy said.

jvg is a quote machine. there's not a guy in the league that's better.

In terms of skillset (no intangibles considered) a "Chris Mullin type of player" is basically Larry Bird "Lite", minus some rebounding and court vision, and plus a little athleticism.

Novak will never be anywhere near a Chris Mullin type of player.

This might give you an idea of what I mean... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwhFfttASc0

Well, Eddie Griffin did not make the rookie game. Hence, EddieWasSnubbed was formed on here.

The Rockets looked great in the preseason game vs the Bucks. If we could play like that every game...

This is what I've always wanted to see....the great ball movement (extra passes). It makes watching the Rockets enjoyable. The only person I would keep off the rotation would be JHo.

Those teams were fun to watch. If Nellie can get them back to that, they will be fun again.

For Novak to become an elite player like Mullin or Bird, he must develop some sort of floor game. Being deadeye with jumpers is great when you have other players drawing double-teams but Novak is easy to shut down at this point. You just guard him with one guy and he's done. If he learns how to score off the dribble some or develop hard to stop back-to-the-basket moves, then and only then will he go to the next level. Right now as a rookie, all we need him to do is nail jumpers and technical foul FTs.

Do you think he can hit about 4 3pointers per game in lets say a 10 minute stretch? I wouldnt say its out of the question. hed average 12 ppg just by doing that.

    He could.

I just hope people don't start treating him like he's an Alien because he never misses a shot.

Already I see Mcgrady and Snyder shaking their heads on the bench everytime Novak shoots the ball.

When he makes 20 straight threepointers and breaks all kind of shooting records, I hope people treat him as a regular dude, and not like he's some god from another dimension.

Man that was a beautiful game. those kind of games are what put fans in the stands. not only did they win but they looked good doing it. they NEVER had that many fastbreak points last year, they got good looks at the 3 last year but couldnt hit it, and the ball movement is another thing that they have improved on. o and novak has a good shot too.

On average, no way. But there will be games where that's exactly what will happen. Let's say he shoots 45% from long range. That would mean he takes 9 3pt shots per game to get the 4 makes. Forget it, especially in 10-15 mins/game.

Wow mullin is very mobile and has good ball handleing, but i think yao is way faster than him. i dont see why novak shouldnt be able to refine some of these skills.

WHat novak needs to do is get advice from Bullard on how important it is to be me multi-dimensional, i mean shooting can only keep you in the league in the bench for 10 years.

He's saying that the idea we might shoot worse than last year is so unrealistic, it is almost unimaginable.
