Big range, I would guess, based on some folks I know in that industry. You'd be surprised how low the salary can be for someone who does web content and occasional radio. Five figures definitely possible for a lot of these folks, ranging up to low-ish six figures for a few of the long-time people. I'd be very surprised, for instance, if even Stark or Stein (long time ESPN employees) made $200k.

To those talking about the era of trash: definitely. You can hate on some of the people being let go, but they were, for the most part, at least shreds of real reporters. I guess it will just be talking heads, T&A, and quotes from twitter now, with tiny bits of highlights thrown in. They should have John Waters produce Sports Center now. (Okay, I would watch that, TBH.)

ringer, BR, Yahoo all better than ESPN. TNT is a better program for NBA than ESPN too

I just think that they aren't edgy anymore. They redefined sports coverage - but who the heck watches Sportscenter anymore?

They still create the same ole articles in an age where the content is suppose to be entertainment.

Are these ESPN cuts proportional to each sport? I only follow the NBA so I'm curious how other sports are faring.

Not so fast ... being discussed in the Dish ... ESPN signing Woj and his team?? That would take some money.

yeah this was revealed by deadspin some months ago..but it hasn't been confirmed officially yet. Probably ESPN will have to pay a big payout to yahoo to get WOJ off his contract and thats why they fired all those big name bball journalists.
    Btw Thorpe also got fired.

I wonder if Woj will take Shams with him. Also what happens to the woj bombs during draft. No more?

thx, I don't follow that closely. Just saw Chad Ford is being released, too. His tweet says 60 more days, so through the draft I suppose. That's gotta mean Woj and team are coming in.

Espn/ABC should axe that NBA half time show with that new chick plus JRose and Chauncey.

They need to make it more entertaining like what TNT does with EJ Shaq, Kenny and Chuck. That ESPN show is exactly whats wrong with ESPN, TV needs personalities and they don't have any.

I used to watch ESPN and SportsCenter all the time, but YouTube has changed everything. I no longer need to watch ESPN in order to get my highlights, I could get them right from my laptop/phone in 2 seconds. We have guys like Dawkins making highlights for all these players and Ximo condensing full games into 9-10 minute videos.

I'll read the occasional article on ESPN (like Arnovitz's latest piece on the Clippers), and I'll go there to check box scores. I only really need them if I want to watch a national TV game, but I'll mainly stream that from my laptop. Their analysis is so shallow, so people can't even go to them for that either. I can get much more detailed analysis from various articles and podcasts. ESPN is dying.

Letting Stein go is a bit of a shocker. But, the writing is on the wall for ESPN to fully assimilate Woj and the entire Vertical team.

Why do people hate Ramona Shelburne? Because she is ugly? It's amazing to me how much people judge a person's worth on their looks alone. I know for a fact Linda Cohn has been one of the best, maybe top 5 personalities at ESPN, and I bet I couldn't find 10 people on her that actually appreciate what she does, because she wasn't beautiful.

Aside from her being a Spurs homer, I have a bias against seeing fat white people on TV.

Hey, I like Doris Burke, she knows her stuff and doesn't get by being eye-candy.

Linda Cohn is protected by the owners of ESPN, no matter her merits.
