Melo's as one dimensional as they come.

KM's good enough to be an all star. Sadly, he doesn't dunk or fly through the air like the other guards which is why he won't be voted. Maybe is Yao was healthy and the Rockets were winning he would have had a chance.

Carmelo Anthony averages 8 rebounds and 3 assists per game.

And, I wouldn't consider most of the West all star guards high flyers. CP3, Deron, Kobe, and Manu are pretty tame compared to their eastern conference counterparts.

Every game he plays is like playing in the all star game... all offense, no defense.

hes not gonna get voted in and nor does he deserve to ... http://www.nba.com/2011/allstar/2011/01/27/west-reserves/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt1

I agree with this article mostly ... in guards .... i dont know how you leave out genobli and nash ... then you can start to discuss others and k-mart is in the conversation but by no means the favorite in that next tear group...

kevin love is playing incredibly for him not to make it as a wild card and if anything Scola deserves a spot before kevin .

whats sad is that we cant say we have a single player on our team that can be considered top 30 in the league ... but despite your arguments one great positive is that we play pretty well as a unit despite of the lack of star power and although playoffs seem like a lost hope without a great addition or 2 .... the rockets are still somewhat fun to watch compete =) unlike the post Hakeem era

    Oh, aren't you clever! Funny.

Unfortunately, that's all that comment is. It's clever but wrong.

People like to repeat clever little bits because, well, they are fun, catchy, and memorable!

However, Martin does play defense. He's good - not great - but decent. If people put the facts to your comment, well, it's just not so clever afterall.

    An astute observation.

Most fans see our own players game after game. We see their good games and bad games.

Those same fans only see other teams players a few times a year and the only other time we see them, it's on highlight film on ESPN. Any player in the league is capable, at one time or another, of making a spectacular play or having a 50 point game. Our problem is, we start to think that player does that all the time.

Take Monte Ellis for example. Yeah, he can have a high scoring game now and then, even play some defense. But if you watched him every single game, he wouldn't look quite to spectacular. Why? Because he has off-nights like everyone else.

But when people start to make lists, they all think of those guys on the highlight film.

People who know the game appreciate Kevin Martin far more than a lot of people here. And the only reason I can find is that some of the people here have some kine of bias (T-Mac?) or an ESPN highlight film perspective.

Parker because the Spurs have the best record. Tim Duncan is most likely going to make it and sure as hell isn't getting in on his stats.

Do u really believe he is better than manu ginobili?
I think as SG in the west, Kobe, manu, roy (before he got injured) Eric gordon and monta ellis/kevin martin, both are really close.
He is still a top 5 sg in the west, but not an allstar.

He could be an all-star if the Rockets had a good record but like people said before, he doesn't dunk on anyone or make game winner's. So he's never on ESPN and people don't really pay attention to him. Just reading what I just said kind of justifies him not being an allstar lol. If he would dominate in the 4th, he would be an allstar. Oh on a side note, he actully does try on defense he's just terrible at it. Hes not strong enough to go through screens/picks.
