never been quite as high on Bosh as some people here, but he's clearly young, highly talented, 20+/10+ guy who can play some d and would be a great add to the team.

That said, you clearly DO NOT "gut" the team for him - with their recent turn of events, the Raptors are just .500 and haven't been all that great over the last few years...so clearly Bosh isn't a top 5 player type guy. but he's on the next level.

I'd trade Scola or Landry for him, though would prefer to trade Scola if you had to trade one of the two. I'd rather keep Brooks.

Ideally, Brooks and Landry untouchable. Everyone else tradeable, though you clearly don't want to give up too many solid role players.

Am I like the only one that is not that impressed with Bosh? He's super soft on defence and is not strong enough to be reliable offensively. I don't think hes that much of an improvement over Landry. All he really has over him is some height.

Not a fan of this. If we're so positive we can "lure him in" this summer, why not wait to do it then and keep your valuable young assets?

So, if Bosh decides not to resign with the Rockets next year, they've just traded their best two active players for a bad contract.

This is what got me. If the deal doesn't have to include McGrady, could a deal for Iggy/Kevin Martin/Granger still be had? Interesting.

    The legend of Morey continues...

my brain melted when i tried to figure out how we would look with 2010-11 salary, but i think we would be around 75 million (including dalembert's trade kicker). that would be well above the lux tax but not obscene relative to other teams. we'd be in the top 25% for team salary. i'd guess we'd be 10+ million over the lux tax level.

we would have a young team locked up for awhile, but i still think toronto would need landry to get the deal done. shipping only brooks off to them doesn't make a ton of sense for them since they have calderon locked up for a long time.

but i accept this trade!

if Morey likes him, he must have some good reasons.

It almost sounds like DM is trying to pull a Boston deal where they added two stars to Paul P and went on to win. The key is they got to keep some key role players and drafted well with Rondo. We're not deep enough to gut the team and expect to win esp with Yao being so injury prone unless he's included in trade talks.

Both are defensive nutjobs but I would rather be stuck with Calderon.

    - Calderon's contract is one year shorter than Hedo.
    - Calderon is a tad cheaper (about $800k to one million).
    - Calderon is younger. Can you imagine paying $12 million to a 36 year old Hedo Turkoglu? His defense is bad enough at age 30.
    - A deal would most likely consist of Brooks, wouldn't picking up Calderon make more sense for Houston?

Assuming Brooks goes, Calderon could play back up to Lowry. His defense is horrific but could be better masked in the second unit.

Strictly going on the assumptions from the article that the Rox would do it regardless of extension. I would imagine the Rox would sign him or at least die trying in the offseason and the Dinos would require Young Talent and getting rid of a long contract. If the Rox want a piece of Bosh then they will have to take that chance, assuming the article is accurate.

We have no cap space. The point of trading for him is that we would have his bird rights and can offer the most lucrative contract despite being over the cap.

I'm scared that Bosh wouldn't re-up and then we've lost at least two rotation players for a filler player (bum)

    I suspect that the D wouldn't be so suspect with CB4 v 2nd 5s. ;)

Edit: I don't know if Bosh is the kind of guy who can take a team to the next level.

He's a nice player, but there aren't many wins up there in Toronto. And then we still have that awful hole at the 2 guard position and are now short a pg.

I doubt we trade Brooks.. Bringing up the win situation in TOR is not smart, because they play no D, and their team is somply not good. And pair Bosh with Yao and a 2nd tier wing (Whoever we trade McGrady for) and we got a team..

On a side note.. You think if we can get Bosh that McGrady will come back?

You can get away with Bosh playing C, with Yao on the bench. You can with Scola, but it shows. Landry you can't get away with.

The team does not want Mcgrady back. It's over.

Ah, thank you. I am not, nor will I ever be a "capologist."

I'm still not on board with it. Not with Brooks or Landry involved.

Someone may have already mentioned this, but we aren't going to get this done with Scola. You have to remember he has been playing pro hoops since 95-96. Scola is an old 30 (almost). Toronto will want young players like Landry.

    What about dumping Yao?
