    This.

I can't believe anybody would even consider the possibility of Bosh leaving the Lakers if he were to be traded there. Take off your homer glasses. I know we all hate the Lakers, but they would have his bird rights. They could offer him the most cash. And you know what? There are worse fates than being young and wealthy in Los Angeles too. There is all the glitz and glamour and the beautiful girls. And the winning. Who willingly walks away from a dynasty?

I think he'd have no problem falling in line behind Kobe. I actually think Pau would become the third option. And I don't think Pau would have any problem with that either.

And for those talking about how that would escalate their payroll even further - if I'm the Lakers and I can do this, I do it just to make sure that teams like the Rockets and the Mavs can't do it.

I would do it too, because of Yao's injuries. Not gonna happen,I think. We will need an athletic defensive minded 5 as a future addition to Bosh.

If I was the Raptors I would prefer a Landry/Brooks package rather than Bynum any day.

Just looking from the offensive side, one thing Scola is excellent at is moving without the ball, finding the open space on the floor within Adelman's offense. Landry? Not so much. He is a work in progress in that regard, but improving. Shane is highly intelligent and makes the pass, but is usually working from around the 3 point line, unlike Luis, who constantly finds the open jumper at the elbow, or position down low, where he is deadly. Ariza, IMO, is still finding his way, and his jump shot. Yao's problem is a lack of lateral movement and quickness. If he can get a pass in his spots, he's automatic, but he needs enough space and time to get the pass. I really think the current team would be a godsend to the big fella. Scola has frequently been drawing doubles, but having a "pick your poison" player like Bosh would make Yao's job much easier, as well as making easier the challenge of getting him the ball. While Luis sometimes draws the double team, Bosh and Yao would both demand it.

I think Scola would be a better fit playing with Yao and Landry a better fit playing with Bosh, if Yao is out. Sure would be nice to see how the options would play out. I'm not sure how Ariza would work with those two, but the guards would have a field day (Ariza is not a 2, despite being listed as that when Battier is on the court), as would Air Bud, who can shoot. Fun to speculate and we'd be missing some of the guys if we made a deal for Bosh, of course.

There seems to be a lot of speculation in this thread about the Rockets including Yao in a trade for Bosh. I seriously doubt Yao would be traded, and if he was traded, I could think of better places to send him.

If you are really going to "blow up" the Rockets identity, then send Cook and Yao, who is a cash cow in addition to an all star, to the franchise that is struggling financially - New Orleans. I would think the Rockets could get Paul and Okafor back. (New Orleans saves financially this year and is well positioned for the future. It is also a move that they could sell to to their fans.)

Then you can send Brooks, Landry and Battier to Toronto for Bosh and trade McGrady for a talented 2 (Perhaps in the much discussed Philly deal for Igoudala and Dalembert.)

I still don't think a Yao trade is happening - even though I would personally do it for the right deal. If you were going to trade him, though, I doubt you would send him to Toronto for Bosh when it isn't necessary and you could add another all-star player plus for him. Brooks, Landry and Battier or a similar package would be an unbeatable deal for Toronto (and yes better than a Lakers package that includes Bynum).

With that said, I wouldn't include Brooks in a trade unless I was getting someone like Paul to replace him, though. I think he is that valuable to this team.

Still, I have to admit it is fun to speculate about a team that would include some of these guys while keeping Lowry, a defensive wing, Budinger, Hayes and Scola. Such a team would be young, healthy, great defensively and would be built to dethrone the Lakers in the West. We would be championship contenders for years to come. I also like that this team keeps some of the Rockets "grit" and "hustle" with Lowry, Scola and Hayes and the potential of Budinger. With this type of team around Bosh, there would be no concern of him walking away.

    Paul, Lowry
    Igoudala, (Hole), Taylor
    Ariza, Budinger
    Bosh, Scola, Hayes
Okafor, Dalembert (would likely be moved again this season or next), Anderson

Alternatively, if the Philly trade went down simultaneously, you could send Toronto Dalembert instead of Battier if they were interested more in a shot-blocking five then a defensive wing with leadership skills... If we were able to pull that off and keep Battier, this team would be unstoppable.

    Cab,

I just think with Pau, Ron, Kobe and Bosh, there is not enough touches to go around.

You need role players as well as stars......

Since the Pacers just rejected an Al Jefferson-Danny Granger swap (who wouldn't turn that down?), why not:

Tracy (and Cbud? Dorsey?) to Minnesota (Kahn supposedly has some interest in Tmac, if at least as an expiring)

    Jefferson to Toronto

    Bosh to Houston

Throw other players in the mix to make the talent and contracts match more evenly.

Like others have said, book the Lakers for the next 3-4 titles if they land Bosh.

This is not good news for the rest of the league.

Hahahah both Landry and Brooks to outbid the Lakers? Its Andrew Bynum, a young center capable of 20/10 with huge potential, stop overrating our players...

Ok, thank you. I've not seen Bosh play much at all, so have no feeling for how he is...but that makes sense.

I'm from Toronto, and they will not trade Bosh. Their plan is to go far in the playoffs this year and hope to convince Bosh to stay.

That means he won't be traded before the postseason.

Bosh has said he doesn't want to play too close to home, ie in Texas. He doesn't want the negative aspect/issues that friends and family can bring. I'm guessing he meant buying tickets to games and people asking for money.

Just curious how in Gods name could the Lakers if they are going for Bosh afford to pay for near 3 max contracts.

Kobes about to get a max contract
Bosh is due for a max contract
Gasol just got a near max contract

How on earth can they realistically spend that much on 3 players and have enough to fill out the rest of their roster.

They will still be paying for Artest, and Odom who are getting a decent amount.
