Stats are only part of the story, I realize, but Bosh is averaging 24 pts, 11 rb, 2 asts, and 1 blk per game in 35 minutes and is the centerpiece of Toronto's offense (though double-teamed at times).

Scola is averaging 14 pts, 9 rbs, 2 asts, and < 1 blk per game in 30 minutes and is a role player in a team-oriented offense. Normalized for 35 minutes, Scola's averages project to be 17 pts, 10 rbs, 2 asts, and < 1 blk.

The question I have is whether the difference between them (7 pts, 1 rb, and 1 blk) is worth trading Scola for Bosh and picking up Bosh's contract. I don't think it is, particularly when Yao returns and Bosh's role diminishes considerably as a low post player.

We could use height and shot blocking this year, without question. But make no mistake, the opportunity is perimeter shooting. That needs to be the upgrade, and the value of that upgrade will not be diminished when Yao returns. And should Yao not return to form (which I hope is not the case), the perimeter shooting problem we experience today would continue next season.

The answer is scoring SG. A front court of Yao, Scola, Landry, Hayes, and Andersen will not keep us from advancing in the playoffs. Our feast or famine perimeter shooting will.

Why people here underestimates Yao or Bosh and overestimates Brooks/Landry?

In my opinion when Yao is healthy he's the best big man on the league. "Yao in his prime... "? He is in his prime. Last year he was more consistent than ever, thougher than ever and mentally stronger than ever. Stats don't say it all.

This is EXACTLY what I want. A near perfect team. If Morey can get this done he is a God!

From the little I've seen of Bosh, I haven't been that impressed with him. But I guess he could be an effective second banana on the right team.

The thing that concerns me most is his contract. He's making almost $16M already and he'll expect a pretty hefty raise in the off-season. Les had better be prepared to overspend to get the right guys around Bosh/Yao.

So Im watching the Phi-Tor game, which is ironically tonight and really focusing in on these two players.

    Bosh 9-14, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, 26 points
    Iggy 5-11, 11 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals, 1 block, 17 points

    Yes please

I hope this gets done as a three way deal. We need Bosh and one of Iggy/Butler/Martin. Give up one each of the following pairs Brooks/Buddinger Scola/Landry Ariza/Battier along with T-Mac and Cook.

    Possible Trades:
    scola+ariza+cook= cb4
    or
    scola+battier+dorsey+cbud= cb4
    or
    scola+battier+dorsey+taylor=cb4
    or
    scola+battier+andersen=cb4

This would explain why the rockets are trying to sign wafer to make sure they can fill that void after a trade involving one of our wings happens. ariza cost less and has more upside than battier, but i think the rockets might value his leadership in the locker room and teaching ability more, especially with bringing along the rookies..

after this trade is made you can then look at trading tmac with cook or another wing player for maybe iguodala or kevin martin
    Possible Trades:
    tmac= kmart and kenny thomas
    tmac+cook= iggy and dalembert

Possible "Dream" Lineups: (any scenario could land us with possibly taylor, bud or vw coming off the bench at sg/sf or dorsey/andersen at backup c)
    pg: brooks/lowry
    sg: kmart/wafer or taylor
    sf: ariza/ cbud or taylor
    pf: landry/kenny thomas
    c: cb4/ hayes/andersen or dorsey
    or
    pg: brooks/lowry
    sg: iggy/ wafer or taylor
    sf: battier/ cbud or taylor
    pf: bosh/ landry
    c: dalembert/ bosh/ andersen or dorsey

But, afterwards i dont think the second trade with tmac would leave us able to resign bosh, input welcome :p .....

p.s....bosh just hit a game winner against philli and are now one game over .500 so this entire trade may be out of the question(raptors wont trade bosh until they think this season is completely over)

I have to admit that I'm shocked that so many people are ok with trading our starting pg in a deal...and being left with just Lowry...and...something...?

Can somebody explain this logic to me? Thanks.

I'd expect them to ask for Landry and Budinger in any deal.

Then again, that team looks like they're vying for the Euro League, so maybe they'd prefer Scola and Andersen.

    I'll pass

Bosh is the most overrated player in the nba. He is soft, a terrible defender, and a career loser. He is a #2 player and not worth any trade that would include both Landry AND Brooks.

Yes, and he played well as did the entire Raptors team. But IIRC that was an early afternoon game and the Rockets were absolutely awful in it. We would have made any team look good.
