duude.... let's be serious here. You're just 'crashing' the message board(s). Don't try and pretend to be anything else. You've been 'seriously' exposed by HRox832.
This forum overthinks everything that is Houston sports related. It might be more fun to quit this place, but I'm not sure I can!
Jumping stresses the area until you complete the rehab process. He has got to improve his quad strength to satabilize the knee cap so it doesn't rub on the front side of the knee. All NBA players have some form of this because of the amount of running and jumping they do. It only becomes an issue if you have quad and/or hip weakness which causes the force in the lower extremity with activity to be translated more to the knee cap and/or knee tendons. Hip strength prevents the knee from over utilized with a given activity and quad strength stabilizes the knee to prevent abnormal lateral tracking which in turn leads to the bone rubbing on bone condition Dwight talks about. Those bones are not supposed to rub at all and the rehab program ensures that they won't. Physical therapy is complete when you are pain free and yes you can be 100% pain free. Clowney's condition is more serious because when you stand up you can't help but have the thigh and shin bones touch each other. If there is cartilage damage and bone is exposed it will cause pain and swelling until that "hole" is filled in. This is why he had to have microfracture, to fill that hole in.
Thanks for the more detailed explanation. What would you have expected for a typical recovery time for the injury and addressing any weakness that would exacerbate the bone on bone?
Somebody had better quickly invent the magic knee brace that Bruce wears in The Dark Knight Rises. Maybe some dedicated Clutchfans would willing to donate the cartilage from their knees for the greater cause. If we get enough donors, maybe we can actually double of triple the number layers in his knees. That's possible, right? Seriously, though, this is a stake through the heart. You can't play the game the way we hired him to play it when you're chipping your knees to dust every time you jump and land. Ugh.
I'm not sure this all wasn't a way for Dwight to lay low while the bad press from these child abuse allegations die down. The question is who requested it, the Rockets or Dwight?
4-6 weeks. And Dwight is right in line with that timetable. He will make 4 weeks this Monday coming up so if he plays tomorrow it will be 2 days shy. 4 weeks gives him enough time to make a meaningful improvement in the deficient strength areas.
I'm very interested in seeing how Dwight looks like if he plays on Saturday. If his knee is truly "bone on bone", I don't see how he can play effectively at all. If he looks good in his return I would tend to think that he was either misquoted or didn't know what he was talking about.
Sooooooooo is Dwight playing Saturday? Or we wouldn't know, because the Rockets never give us injury information!!!
He's been cleared to play by the doc, the reason he's listed as doubtful is because he hasn't practiced with the team yet. McHale isn't going to play him in any game until he practices with the team. Dwight is the only thing keeping Dwight out of the lineup right now. Either he can't play with the pain or he doesn't want to practice with the team for some reason. You make the call.
