Hey I'm sorry!!! I think the Warriors scored big time through the draft. Do you think Hughes will play PG? Will Bob Sura finally get cut? IS it possible that Fortson can play for a whole month without getting injured? Maybe you should start a new thread for each question so we can finally have some in-depth analysis of these issues
I left him out on purpose Isn't he a FA now? Having 2 SF's isn't really thin - you'd have 3 guys who can play the 2 positions (Mercer/ Szcz/ ERob) with Hassell as backup SG - (and throw Hoiberg in too!) - that'd be enough depth there surely? I'd say Houston is stacked at both PG and SG if they re-sign Moochie and that would just give us 3 players to cover both positions - having quality is better than quantity!! And while Artests D would be missed, there would be much more scoring power to make up for it.... one or the other I guess!
Yeah, Hoiburger is a FA...but he's already negotiated a deal with the Bulls. He and the rooks are waiting for the outside FA's to sign so we don't get caught in a cap crunch without an additional PG (here is hoping it's travis best). Moochie? Hmmm...wonder if Krause has thought about him...
Hey, now there's an idea! Heck, there should be an entire Bob Sura forum. But until that glorious day arrives, some shorter answers: Yeah, the draft seems to have been a good one. Not only do they all appear ready to contribute pretty quickly, picking three guys with gym-rat reputations looks like it boosted the work ethic of the entire team. Probably Hughes will start at SG for now, then slide to PG when Mookie goes out (with either Sura or Vonteego Cummings getting a handful of backup minutes as well). The major factor in when Hughes becomes the full-time PG, I think, is when Richardson is ready to start at SG. I'd be very surprised if that happened before midseason. Sura's contract runs through 2004, so he won't be cut. Are you sure the Rockets wouldn't like to trade for him? Pleeeease?? I have no idea about Fortson. They're being cautious with him a la Grant Hill in Orlando. Supposedly he didn't reinjure the foot so much as the first surgery in Boston was botched (the doctor used a screw that was too small, so GS had a larger one put in). Have to wait until training camp to see, I guess.
