well they practically gave away pau gasol so wouldnt be surprised if they gave away marc. but i wouldnt want to give away too much if hes gonna be a backup
The Deke we had was far from being the greatest defensive center in NBA history. Perhaps it looked like the same dude, but he was merely a shell of his former self. I loved his time as a Rocket, be was more like a macot/inspiration to our team. And for future reference, you should be a little careful with the word "bust," it makes you seem like you do not know what you are talking about. At minimum you should give them more than 1 season before you label them. Thabeet was a rookie last year. Calling him a bust is rubbish......
Although you guys still think it is inconcievable to believe that the Grizzlies would trade Gasol. I would still argue the point that the trade pieces we have to offer for him would be less than what we would have to give up for Granger. I believe that some combination of young talent, an expiring, and the picks could land us Gasol/Thabeet. If the trade went down with Indiana you would be giving up Ariza/AB and picks. To further the point that Memphis's idea of value is not as high as ours, has Budinger and Hill not peaked in your opinion? Perhaps not fully but what more could you expect out of both of them? Gasol is putting up fantastic numbers and he does everything score, rebound, block shots.........VALUE!!!
I would say the only way to get Marc Gasol is to package Hill and both NY picks for him. And i don´t think Gasol is worth risking two probable lottery picks.
Only way this happens is if Gasol states he wants to leave. He is a FA at year end and the Grizz would be fools to let him walk for nothing.
Gasol wouldn't only play Yao's backup, he would play about the same amount of minutes (for at least the first year anyway, since Yao is coming back from injury.) Gasol isn't some pushover; he can get you a double double easy.
