    Mark Gasol for ROY?

Seriously, if he keeps up these numbers, it's possible.

Uh...is this your first experience with the ROY award?

It NEVER goes to a player on a winning team, because the best players get sent to the worst teams and play the most minutes.

    Geez.

So Memphis is 2-2. Is that classified as not winning... or... what?

Marc Gasol looks pretty good and will get plenty of playing time. Big men are always at an advantage (if they can score) because they can pad out their scoring stats with rebounds and blocks.

Gasol is making a strong case - but I'd like to see Jason Thompson (Sacto) get a starting gig - I think he'd push the envelope for RoY pretty hard (14 points, 7 boards in 22 minutes).

There are MANY more reasons to think that Marc Gasol will be a better player than Oden - and some reasons to think that Oden might not be looking much higher than a Sam Dalembert as his ceiling.

we've seen quite a bit of gasol given the amount of time we played them including preseason...i'm impressed. he's not a stiff, he can rebound and he can hit the mid-range jumper. star gets thrown around way way to much. maybe he's a star but more than likely he's a good player who looks a lot better than anyone thought. i like memphis' future if certain guys develop, they may not be far off from portland but it'll be a few years.

    Uh, and...

    Elton Brand
    Steve Francis
    Mike Miller
    Pau Gasol
    Amare
    Lebron
    Okafor
    Paul
    Roy

All recent ROYs have been on crappy teams. This is how the award works.

Geez? Did Dadakota post using you're profile?

Usually the guy who wins ROY is the best on his team.

    sheesh!

At the moment it looks like Portland has the experience edge over Memphis in the 'youth movement'. That is, Roy and Aldridge (their 2 "stars") have more exerience than whoever Gay's running mate is going to be.

However a great swing man and a good C makes for a strong combination - throw in OJ Mayo's form and Conley's ability to defend and run the point and you're looking at a halfway decent team.

If Gay keeps developing into a top line talent, and Gasol becomes can become a 15-10 type, then the Grizzlies have a bright future.

The kid definitely looks good so far. Who knows, he might not even be a complete vagina like his brother. :)
