Yes Sign him for low money for the one reason why Ron Artest will work in Houston Rick Adelman!!!!! Players love to play for him and i bet Stephon would love to too
The money that Marbury makes and the money that Francis makes are not even close to matching, this offer is not real. DD
I guess the Knicks don't want to buyout Marbury's whole salary, and they want the rockets to pay some, 2-3 mil.?
ESPN Trade Machine: Marbury for T-Mac straight up... ACCEPTED! or Francis, Alston, Scola, Battier and Head for Marbury.... ACCEPTED!!!! Marbury makes 20 million, we aren't trading for him.
If we could get Marbury for the min... i'd sign him, start him and ride him to a championship! If he acts up - ya dump him, but waaaaaay to much upside to pass on.
Marbury and Artest in the same team? Congratulations! You've got a "Dynamite Duo" in the back court! Haha! This is HOUSTON, not NY or Hollywood. One nutcase per team per year please.
unreal discussion , no way do you sign him .... even if hes free.. i rather not cut even our fifteenth man.... hes not francis , steve had a reason he wanted to be here, starbury has toooooo big of an ego to play in this team concept. actually off the top of my head , i cant think of a single team in the nba that marbury can start for and make better. well maybe OKC ...
Did you make this up yourself or did you get it from Hoopsworld? I could suggest the Cavs are trading LeBron for Travis Diener and it would have as much validity as your claim here.
why would I make something up like that? I got it from facebook.com and the guy seemed like he worked for the rockets. I thought maybe someone here would know what he was talking about.
There's two strikes right there. You got an NBA rumor from Facebook (of all places) and didn't bother checking the salaries to see if they even match --- which, BTW aren't even close. I'm not trying to be a prick. Just saying those are two red flags right there. Plus, anytime there are whispers of this nature involving the Rockets somebody here usually breaks the news way before it hits the ESPN.com's....and believe it or not, Facebook too.
I would rather have Mochie Norris come back outta retirement and play for us then have Marbury on da team!

Of course, he couched it by saying he still loves the Knicks and New York, but he came right out and said that if they want to cut him -- not a buyout, but a straight release -- he won't shed a tear. "If they feel like I'm a problem and if they want to go in another direction, that's okay with me," he said at the team's media day, less than 24 hours before the first training camp practice at Skidmore College. "I have no problem with playing someplace else. Everyone knows I love New York, but now it's different because the business part of it is coming into play. If I'm not wanted here, then let me go." Clearly Marbury's days as a Knick seem to be numbered. The only question is whether he'll be cut before the season starts, during the season or perhaps at the end of it, when the $20.8 million remaining on his contract comes off the Knicks' books for good and provides the Knicks with huge salary cap relief. Team president Donnie Walsh has said only that Marbury is coming to training camp, with no assurances beyond that. Yesterday the 31-year-old point guard actually said he didn't care what the Knicks do, because he's in good shape and plans on playing well this year -- somewhere. "Whether it's here or someplace else," he said, "it doesn't matter." A colossal distraction in two of the past three seasons, Marbury is coming off the worst year of his career in which he played only 24 games and suffered through family tragedy and a feud with former coach and mentor Isiah Thomas. This season, he said, the addition of point guard Chris Duhon was a good move, but he also clearly believes he is still the best point guard on the roster. With the uncertainty that lies ahead, Marbury was asked if he wants the Knicks to clarify his role on the team, or whether they even want him. "At the end of the day, I don't care," he said with a laugh. "It doesn't matter what they do because I'm going to play basketball, and I'm going to play at a high level. It doesn't matter to me as long as I get on the court. Once I get my opportunity, that's it." There was also a good deal of effort assuring reporters he didn't care if they criticized him, and when he was done speaking, he gave one reporter a lengthy bearhug and whispered in his ear, "I'm praying for you." Marbury, who joined the Knicks in 2004 just months before they would descend into the worst four-year period in team history, said he isn't worried about his future because he's doing so well financially. "Don't worry about what I'm doing," he said. "Just know that my legacy is set." Indeed, it is.
