I kind of agree with you, but Marbury's such a knuckle head it affects his game alot more than the avg knuckle head. I think Marbury has more talent slightly.
Okay. After watching yesterday's game... Stephon Marbury LOOKED better than Steve Francis. He can penetrate and drive and get past Steve easily. And he is just excellent around the basket. He always makes his little layups. But too bad he got hurt. He was 7-22. And had 7 assists and 5 turnovers. And too bad he took those 2 free throws. Now Francis can also do everything that Marbury does...but he doesn't need to. I think Francis has learned that he has good teammates and they all trust each other. And now it looks better when everybody gets involved. It doesn't have to be the same people each game. One game it can be Posey. Another game...it can be Rice. Or Yao. Or Cato. Or Griffin. Or Mo. Cuttino is always pretty consistent now... But yeah. Stephon is better. But his attitude has not always been good. I wonder what he said after the game yesterday...
Marbury is a better individual talent then Francis. However, Marbury's style of basketball will never win a championship. Sun's organization seem more concerned about getting into the playoffs. Rockets are light years ahead of Sun's in this regard. In the next year or two if the Rockets develop good team chemistry and aquire a few missing pieces then we will be in the same class as the Lakers, Kings, Spurs, and Mav's. Side Note: Lately, Francis has been putting more effort to create for others. I like that. He should be a leader on the floor not only through his athletic ability but through smart plays.
I'm sorry, but Steve played damn good defense on Marbury. Marbury is one of the quickest guards in the league, so he can get past almost anybody on penetration. Steve was up tight on him and forced him into crowds. Marbury was also running around picks all night long...
If it's a matter of who gets on the Olympic team I give it to Steve. I see Steve diving on the floor for loose balls, jumping out of bounds trying to save one for the team. Steve does that stuff constantly. Attitude also has to go to Steve. Last night showed that Steve is willing to sacrifice part of his individual game to make the team better, which could be very important on an Olympic team where every player is all star calibur. I also don't think Steve would complain at all if he only saw limited minutes. After Marbury wasn't the All Star starter it's clear he takes things like that personally. If part of being an olympian is representing the U.S.A. in a good light, then I would put Steve on the team, because of his dedication to the team, and overall extra effort.
You know why Steve Francis is 20 thousand times as good as Stephon Marbury? Cuz he's a ROCKET!!! And that puts him light-years ahead of any PG in the league! But really, even as an unbiased NBA fan, Francis is better. Not 20 thousand times better, but if it had to choose between the two, it's still a pretty clear decision to me.
