Stephon Marbury wanted to outplay Steve Francis, burning so much that he shouted at Francis during one quiet Compaq Center timeout for all to hear: "I'm a real All- Star, son! I don't have to get voted on!"

    marbury is a idiot!!!!!!!!!!!

I just hope Yao dosent give Marbury a over the shoulder pass in the all-star game to make him look good. That is if he is even in the game (payto nash francis) probaly not.

Yeah, Marbury is an idiot but I'm sure these type of comments happen all the time during the game. But yeah Marbury is a moron.

if marbury was directing that particular quote at steve it probably was jokingly as i think they're friends off-court. i know in the past that stephon has had alot of compliments for steve's game.

however his past quotes about yao and kg show what kind of loser he is.

here's an old article about Marbury.

One of the main reasons Tom Gugliotta joined the Phoenix Suns instead of re-signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves for more money is that he thought Minnesota point guard Stephon Marbury's ego had begun to be a problem. Apparently Gugliotta wasn't the only member of the team who felt that way. He says that last season a Minnesota assistant coach pointed out to him that Marbury seemed reluctant to pass to teammate Kevin Garnett after Garnett made the All-Star team and Marbury did not. Gugliotta also didn't care for Marbury's tendency to dominate the ball, which is probably why it took him only a few games with his new team to declare that the best player he's ever played with is the Suns' unselfish playmaker, Jason Kidd.

Does he have tatoos on him says "starbury" or something? and some sorta egostic words written on his shoes?

Don't care about Marbury. It's just jealousy. He's always a person who is jealous of something. Iverson, then KG and Yao/Francis.

SF definitely has better class than this punk"Star Burried".I have no doubt SF can match him points by points if he 's allowed to do so,but Steve will not fall for that...Rockets won! that's all mattered! BTW,stephon must have some sorts of special feelings toward KG.Even KG admitted "i am on his mind constantly like a girl...".Time to come out "star burried",nothing to be ashamed about !!!!it's perfectly all right.

This was a clasless comment by Marbury, but the New Jersey argument is weak as hell. Also, he's not a selfish player. He's about as selfish as Steve, and Steve is not selfish.

He is leading a decent team to a #5 seed in a much tougher conference than Jason Kidd. If Mutombo was playing, I don't think the Nets would be #2 in the East, they'd probably be 3 or 4.

    Here's what matters:

    - Steve WILL be in the All Star game, Marbury won't.
    - Yao Ming WILL be in the All Star game, Stoudamire won't.
    - Steve Francis' team WON the game, Marbury's didn't.
    - Stoudamire LOST the game for Phoenix by fumbling the ball while being guarded by YAO MING

Who cares what they say? What percentage of people on this board think Ming will win the matchup with Shaq? 1%? 2%? Hell, 90% didn't expect him to win the Divac matchup, much less teh Shaq one.

Also, this is Yao's first glimpse of Shaq. The second one will be a much much better indicator of how he stands up to Shaq.

A very special and touching moment for Starbury....when asked of his thoughts on camera right after winning the Rucker League championship this past summer, he looked to the interviewer and proclaimed:

"Right now I'm jus governin da hood you know wut I sayin...I jus governin up in here right now"

Marbury is just a jealous person that's why he left Minnesota cuz he can't stand Garnett getting all the spotlights. He's jealous of Jason Williams when he's with Sacramento. He's now jealous of Steve and Yao cuz they got voted in the All Star. And now he's trying to hype up Amare cuz he wants to share the spotlight with. Pretty soon he's going to be jealous of his own teammate too...Amare. Luckily Penny Hardaway hasn't been his old self or Marbury is going to be jealous of him too. He's JUST A JEALOUS PERSON!!! He's whining inside cuz he knows he won't be going to the All-Star and watching it and getting more jealous. He's a total LOSER!!

Chron Marbury loses focus after insult

"During a timeout in the second quarter, Marbury taunted Rockets point guard Steve Francis, saying that he, not Francis, was the real All-Star on the court.

Francis let the insult go, and Marbury went ice cold from the field. "

The article didn't say whether Steph addressed his stupidity.

    2001 Allen Iverson
2000 Shaquille O'Neal and Tim Duncan
    1999 Not held¡Vdue to lockout
    1998 Michael Jordan
    1997 Glen Rice
    1996 Michael Jordan

I think he was selected ONCE in 2001. If he was all-star mvp, i think he would consider himself "real god of basketball" for the rest of his life.

I remember now that in his first season, he kept pouting that he is better than Iverson when the media was saying good things about Iverson.

As a player, he's better than Iverson. Better than Steve even. He succeeded in learning how to become a good passer, and is the same scorer as Steve and Ivy. He's just got a bad personality, that's all. If he had, for example, Yao's personality, he'd be in the All Star game every year.

The guy is supremely talented. I only say this because, he's not going to read this. He can destroy anyone one-on-one, he regularly is top 6 or 7 in assists per game in the league, and he's clutch, no doubt about it.

It's just his personality. He always feels opressed.
