Yes this was as nasty as it gets, but I will admit that Marbury totally got the best of Yao on that play, just let it go guys. And check out MoTay's nuts on Amare's face, I am sure that we will get one of those crossover plays to go our way and will laugh about it too. Let them have this one, we'll get ours.

Omar, why did you quote my post on this one? My post agrees with you.

It wasn't Ming going for one of Marbury's fakes that made him fall. Yao was just moving backwards and he fell. Marbury was starting into his fakes at that time, but it wasn't Yao going for one of them that caused him to fall. I'ved watched the play a number of times, and I agree with you Omar.

That doesn't mean it wasn't funny that the big fella fell. But I agree with you that it wasn't Yao getting faked out of his sox and falling over.

I'm sorry, but i didnt think this was funny at all. Imagine you are playing, your teammate falls down, and the other team laughs hysterically at him. Would you laugh too? HELL FREAKIN NO! I just knew this was gonna go on Yao's permanent blooper real for all to chuckle at for years to come. i feel bad for Yao and am very pissed off at our guards for hanging him out to dry. But i did love Amare's little half jump on Yao's jam that prevented him from being completely posterized.

I don't know if I'm recalling correctly, but if I am, even if Yao fell on his butt, I could have sworn Marbury didn't score off of the opportunity. I don't consider that much of a posterization; if Yao had just backed off to avoid embarassment, Marbury probably would have scored. As it was, even if Yao did fall flat on his butt, he still had a hand in Marbury not scoring. Weak moral victory, but moral victory none the less, yes? ;)

I thought it was pretty funny when Steve blocked Marion. And when Mo posterized amare. And when Yao dunked with authority all over him. And when Yao blocked his shot and amare cried for a foul.

Not to spoil a good Rockets dunk. But how is it a "posterization" when the defending player doesnt even leave the ground? It would have been much more impressive if Amare had actually jumped and tried to block it. :D

That's ****ing embarrsing, but why the hell is he guarding Marbury in the first place.Shouldn't he be in the back guarding someone else instead of guarding STARBURY

So if Steve dunks on Shaq and shaq doesn't leave his feet it's not posterization?

I guess it's not really a crossover unless you fall.

Actually, to me, its not. Shaq has no chance to block it if he doesnt leave his feet. I like dunks where the defender makes a legitamate effort to block it but still gets dunked on. Thats more impressive to me than dunking on something that is standing flat footed.

I think he didn't want to jump because he doesn't want Spalding tatooed all over his face! :D

I didn't have time to read every post on this topic so I'll just put my 2 cents in ...

This is something that Rocket fans will have to get use to. It may not be fair or very logical but anytime someone makes Yao look bad they are going show highlights of it. It doesn't even matter if Yao has a good game they are only going to show the bad stuff. Whenever you are that tall, and someone makes you look bad they are going to show it.

I don't like comparing Yao to Bradley but Shawn suffers the exact same thing. Take the game against the Raptors earlier this year for example. JYD threw down a monsterous dunk on Bradley, and it was all over ESPN, and NBA.comTV, and Fox Sports. None of those networks mantioned how JYD got outplayed by Bradley the entire game, and the fact that Bradley was the anchor that led to a Mavs win.

Unfortunately Yao may be subjected to this type of treatment his entire career for the simple fact of how tall he is, and the fact that he was a #1 overall pick.

Yao Ming can become the single greatest player of all time...but that was possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen in watchng basketball. I jumped out of my seat and ran to the bathroom so I wouldnt piss myself. It was horrible cuz I saw Stephon setting up for the left to right cross...and once he did Yao busted his ass...it was soo classic. Tom Tolberts call on the replay was hilarious as well.....Something to the extent of "Yao...wow....Oww.." oh boy that should be an instant classic.

I saw it on the highlights & replays.

What do you expect? Yao was giving him some cushion. There's no way a center like Yao should be expected to jump out on an elite guard like Marbury and guard him one on one. He simply doesn't have the quickness. If it were Shaq or Duncan out there, we would have seen the same result.

A dunk on someone just standing there is just as nasty as dunking on someone attempting to block the shot. The only thing that matters is appearance and the positions of both of the players.
That Ricky Davis dunk on Nash was one of the nicest dunks I've seen in a while, even though Nash didn't do anything but get a shin or two blocking his view.

That being said, the MoTaylor dunk was ok, but nothing worth a poster.

And yes, it is funny when a player falls while being in front of an opposing player beginning or in the middle of his offensive move.
Though, Yao seemed to be falling due to him trying to move backwards rather than Steph's move, which he didn't really do anything.
It's all about who laughs last, and as long as Yao continues to play well and improve......well, you get the point.

    :p

I saw Barry Sanders do something similar to Rod Woodson on the football field. Woodson blew out a knee. It was magificient yet sick at the same time.

I'm just glad Yao didnt end up like Woodson who was lost for the year.

The scene of the PHX bench was pretty hilarious though, once it became clear Yao was not hurt.

I hope it doesnt become a "highlight reel" staple like the Kevin Johnson dunk on Hakeem. That clip should come with a disclaimer on who won that series and how.
