I don't see why it is not legal...alcohol contribute to many deaths more than weed so alcohol should be banned!
I'll just shed a bit of a light on my personal life on this matter. I've suffered with manic depression for most of my life and have never smoked mar1juana despite evidence that it may be beneficial for my particular disorder. I say this after going through a good 13 or 14 different antidepressants and mood stabilizers that haven't done anything other than give side effects sometimes resulting in going into the emergency room (temporary paralysis.) I've finally found a medication that's proven somewhat effective but were mar1juana legal, I'd definitely consider it as a possible form of treatment were it helpful. Since it is illegal though, I simply don't have the cash to pay should I receive a citation.
I have friends that smoke it, and my old roomate was a complete pothead. Ive done it only a handful of times, and I dont have a problem when you keep things safe and in moderation. My problem with pot is that the people Ive been around use it as a mood enhancer - a personality changer if you will. They smoke it every day, and go immediately from depressed and pissed off at the world, to happy as a damn lark. Its pretty pathetic that you have to rely on drugs like pot to make yourself happy. They use and abuse it because they hate the person they are when they aren't stoned - they dont like the feeling of soberness, because it leaves them empty - no personality, life isnt fun. Potheads will be potheads, but by making this stuff legal, you won't be able to tell if the person you talk to is the real deal or their altered stoned state of being.
i really don't have a problem with legalizing...but i'm guessing that alcohol contributes to more deaths because it is legal and more accessible than mar1juana.

Alcohol impairs driving way more than pot. It's not even close. You can play basketball etc while stoned, just look at the NBA. I would be much more afraid of people talking on cell phones while driving than stoned drivers.
Pot is illegal because most of society is neurotically caught between being a moralistic nanny state and an irresponsible hedonist's paradise. It's easier to crackdown on harmless pot heads than do anything about the more intractable issues of society.
Pot is more accesible than alcohol is if you are under 21... and even if you are 21, pot is just as accessible which is pretty damn accessible if you ask me. But yeah, the reason alcohol is causing more deaths is probably due to the fact that more people drink and party than people that smoke pot and party.. Smoking pot and partying dont really go together so the potheads dont actually leave their house/apt. People drinking start making stupid decisions like thinking they can drive perfectly when really they cant. Potheads are too paranoid, or i guess i should say more paranoid, to drive when they are high which then might make them drive a little more safer than normal because they dont want to get pulled over with bloodshot eyes, it really depends on the pothead. People drinking are sometimes too drunk to even think about getting pulled over and then they end up killing someone...
I have never been offered pot for sale. I have seen beer for sale at every grocery store I have ever been to. I don't care what polls of high school kids say, pot is not as accessible as alcohol.
i didnt mean accessible in just stores, i just meant in general pot is not that hard to get. Alcohol is just easier if you are 21, but in my opinion finding weed is pretty easy even if you havent ever smoked before... just gotta ask around a little and you can be smoking in no time
You don't have to ask around to find booze though. It is everywhere. That means pot is harder to get than booze, despite "studies" to the contrary, where apparently they ask a bunch of potheads if they have trouble getting pot.
He said for people under 21. I'm 18 and under normal circumstances, I can't walk into my corner store and walk out with some beer. But I can ask the guy standing next to the pay phone if he knows where I can get some weed. Under most circumstances, weed is DEFINITELY more accessible to underage people (high school and under) than alcohol. All you have to do is find the school stoner and ask where he gets his. And to the OP, you need to stop smoking so much.
Judging from personal experience, it was a hell of a lot easier to get weed than alcohol in high school. For weed, you just need to ask someone who you knew smoked pot and they'd point you in the right direction. For alcohol, it's a bit trickier as you have to know someone over 21 who's willing to do the buying for you. With weed, you don't have to rely on anyone else so it's really accessible.
Couldn't you just grab a beer out of your parents' or friends' parents' house? That would seem easier to me.
