Are you serious? My cousin has, is, and probably will forever be a coke/pill head. He's never smoked weed for the same reason he doesn't smoke cigarettes, the smell. I just disproved your assumed fact and I know several other people who have not done weed but coke.
Hilarious. Andymoon gives hard data backed by peer-reviewed journal citations. Resident dingbat responds with "No, I'm right!".
Yeah, and they probably start smoking cigarettes and drinking booze before they started smoking pot. .....and before that, they used to eat those candy cigarettes. So let's outlaw booze, cigarettes, and candy cigarettes. Ok, but it's rumored to be a fact that ding dongs are a gate way drug to candy cigarettes, ho hos too. So we have to outlaw ding dongs and ho ho's. And so on and so on... I just wonder that the gateway drug to a slim jim is.
I just never knew there would be some many liberal views on a texas board. I’m guessing the republicans stay away, maybe I should too! Yall go play with yalls weed.
I am not a drug counselour. We do have somebody that is a drug rehab counselour that posts in the D&D. I am sure he can tell us if alcohol/tobacco is the gateway drug or if it was weed. I haven't ever heard of anybody starting with weed and then moving to tobacco/alcohol and then other drugs. I have heard more people start with tobacco/alcohol, then weed, then other drugs.
YOUR ****ING PROVING MY POINT FOR ME. NOTHING GOOD IS GOING TO COME FROM WEED. AND IT CAN BE JUST AS BAD AS BOOZE. WHY ADD ONTO IT? Sure i could look up some stats saying weed is worse than alcohol. Just like yall are doing.
Okay. So either ban alcohol/tobacco, and keep weed illegal. Why add on weed to the situation? WHY, because "its not as bad as booze" ? maybe it isnt as bad. but it still can be bad. So why do it?
No, he did not. Prove it. Prove it. Tax revenue. Less support for violent drug cartels. More room in prisons for actual threats to society. Please do.
Well for all you weed supporters I got one thing to say. Weed aint going to be legal on your life time, so get over it. Maybe your grandkid can experience it and ruin his life. And there are lots of things that can’t be proving by it. Like when I said nothing good comes from it. But that does not mean only good will come from it either.
I can find an article too mar1juana is Gateway Drug New research confirms that mar1juana is a gateway drug for most teens who use it. Some will tell you mar1juana is a harmless drug, but the Journal of the American Medical Association isn't one of them. Young people who smoke mar1juana are two to five times more likely to move on to harder drugs. That is the formal opinion of researchers, who published their conclusions from a recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). It is also the informal conclusion of two recent high school graduates who talked with Family News in Focus. The two, who asked that their names remain anonymous, said they no longer smoke mar1juana, but that most of the kids they smoked pot with in high school went on to harder drugs and aren't able to hold jobs. One of the young persons said she started smoking pot because of peer pressure, but she stopped out of concern for her parents. "I realized how bad it disappointed my parents," she said. "My dad cried and so I stopped." The JAMA study followed 311 sets of identical twins one smoked pot while the other did not. Twins were chosen to help rule out a genetic or social explanation for the gateway effect. Almost half of the young people who started smoking mar1juana before 17 went on to use harder drugs later in life. The study is the latest to suggest the link between mar1juana and other drugs like cocaine and heroin. However, Howard Simon, of the Partnership for a Drug-Free America, said regardless of the evidence some still dispute the findings. "But the one thing everyone should be able to agree on is that for young kids, to be even 'dabbling' with mar1juana is just not a good idea," Simon said. He added he still thinks "Just Say No" is the best policy. "Regardless of the first drug that is used, what we want to see is kids choosing not to use any of these substances," Simon said. But experts say a good drug policy isn't enough. They say parents need to be open and consistent with an anti-drug message. FOR MORE INFORMATION The Partnership for a Drug-Free America, a non-profit group founded by the nation's advertising industry to fight drug use among teens and children, has a Web site with information for parents. The Journal of the American Medical Association is a subscription-based periodical. Temporarily, the online version of the Journal is offering free access to the drug study article. Please be advised that JAMA, however, reserves the right to change free access to paid access at any time.
at first I thought you guys were lame for responding to jlew's trolling.... but his last post shows too much sincerity. jlew, your arguments are full of unsubstantiated dogma and misguided opinions. Have you ever considered the possibility that the mass media and your immediate friends and family are not infallible? Open your mind and try to see the world in different ways. You have the internet, the greatest learning tool in the history of the known universe, and you are wasting it. Stamping your feet with your eyes closed and hands over ears is not the path to enlightenment. There's nothing wrong with arguing over the internet; but what have you accomplished with your tantrum? If you want your opinion to matter there has to be a shared sentiment of reality in relation to the world we live in - disposition absent of this will bring you nothing but hurt and a failure to realize the true joys of life.
Umm, I didn't prove anything. My point, if you had bothered to ponder on it, was that the whole gateway drug rap is a load of crap. You can point to a number of factors that go into the making of a junkie. Smoking the weed would be way down on the list, if on the list at all. My stats are bigger than your stats.
