The metabolites take longer to flush, but the active chemicals are gone in a few hours, just like alcohol.
Come back to me when your "test group" is being compared to a control group and results are being taken down and analyzed scientifically.
Ok.. so how do you test a driver to see if he is high or not? And is there a cutoff level like alcohol?
The best way is with a blood test, but you could easily do an impairment test on the side of the road. If you fail the impairment test, you are arrested just as surely as if you had been drinking alcohol. As far as the cutoff level, that is something that needs some study, which can't really be done while mar1juana is prohibited.
But, there isn't an impairment test that currently exists. And from what I understand creating a quick test for mar1juana like they do for alcohol is damn near impossible.
I am talking about a roadside sobriety test. Those existed long before breathalyzers and are an easy way to prove impairment if done in front of the police car's camera.
Are you serious??? I though you were like the weed expert. It is so freaking easy to act completely normal when your high. Unless you had like never smoked before and just smoked tons of dank, it would almost be impossible for them to tell if you are high. I completely agree however that it should be illegal to drive impaired, I was just making an observation on much experience with the issue in high school. Many kids can control themselves but im not trying to justify it using that. I just think it wouldn't be a huge deal.
Again, im not saying that its legit scientific evidence, i just knew tons and tons of kids that were high all the time and stoned driving all the time and didnt get close to a wreck. It doesn't make it ok, but its on a way way lower scale than alcohol.
does drinking a coke, and driving down the road harm other people? NO. Does driving drunk/high hurt other people? Yes, it can.
2 things that could be done. 1) Legalize it. If things happen to get out of hand, America can always ban it again. or 2) Make laws for strict on weed. The middle area, where if you get caught with a little bit of pot, you only get a slap on the wrist. IDK, I don't care to make it legal, but i wouldn't be protesting if they made it legal. In the end tho, just remember people are going to do whatever they want, if something is illegal or not. So why not just make it legal? IDK.... I honestly see American waiting for other countries to legalize it, and see if there are any economical effects. Regardless if we make it legal or not, anyone who thinks that "weed legalization" will save the economy is crazy... could it help the economy??? maybe.
If a person has their wits about them to the point that they can pass a roadside sobriety test, they are not impaired, right? Besides, once we can start studying marijauana in an honest way, we will eventually find the approriate limits as we have for alcohol. BTW, I am not a "weed expert," I am someone who has been studying the issue of drug use and abuse for north of two decades. I am actually more of a drug policy expert than a mar1juana expert.
That is kinda my point. If someone has smoked themselves into oblivion, to the point that they cannot pass a roadside test, they should be arrested and charged with DUI. If they can pass a roadside test, they obviously aren't too impaired.
I agree and so does texting. and talking on the phone... start issuing tickets for all i care. It just would suck if someone killed one of your love ones b/c he was texting on his/her phone, and ran a red light. It's scary.
I don't think after studying the effect that the drug war has had on our society that we will even consider banning it once it becomes legal. Three quarters of a million people a year get arrested for mar1juana offenses. How much stricter could we get without a major commitment of a lot of new funding? The worst possible outcome, and the one that will continue to propogate the racial disparities in drug law enforcement. Truer words have never been spoken. The role of government in such a situation should be to minimize the harm done to society when the people "do whatever they want" and to recoup monetary societal damages through taxation. The US is the power that is continuing to pressure the rest of the world to continue the drug war policy, through the UN Convention on Drugs. The US fights tooth and nail against policies seen as "liberalizing" drug policy. We are the problem here. The cumulative effect on the economy will be measurable once we stop prohibiting and start taxing various recreational pharmaceuticals. It will not be a "make or break" type of difference, but it will be substantial.
lol their are some drunks that can act pretty good. here is a lil sample... i think u will like it.. turn volume up, you might have already seen this . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAIWvkNy2UI&feature=related
No worries, it was a really long time ago, I have lived more of my life without him now than I did with him. I have no love for impaired drivers, though.
