Disagree with "CLEAR #2" Simply because Guards are the foundation of any successful modern team. Bigs are important but secondary. A team with decent forwards and mediocre guards will be the Timberwolves. And the history of big men busts in the top 3 picks since 2000 is bonkers.
Enough shooting, playmaking, and leadership (intangibles) to take over Mobley. I won't lose any sleep if we take Mobley as I am happy we kept our pick, but Mobley has the highest bust potential to me.
I agree, he's a boom or bust type pick, but the upside is just ridiculous. I like Green's athleticism and shooting potential and I like Suggs' passing and bbiq....I just wish they were a single player.
No. Not investing in an offensive project with a pick like this. Whenever you have to say "He'll be working with so and so..." hard pass. Give me a playmaker who can get buckets!
I am not a big Giannis fan. When the bucks need buckets, they go to Middleton. I haven't watched much of Edwards. Mobley looks good in those highlights...I would just be too scared to take someone who needs so much development.
My problem with that is that KPJ was outplaying Green in the G league just a few months ago and Green is a one way player only. Mobley is a lockdown defender with a lot of potential to be very good on both ends. Sure there's some risk when you go with skinny big men but there's also risk when you go with a one way guard that derives the majority of their scoring ability from athleticism. Will they be the next generational player or will they be another Gerald Green?
Also, I would not even factor Wood or Porter into the decision. The team will belong to our pick. That's the simple fact. Porter and Wood are nba misfits, who played on the worst team in the league, and got some run which looked ok, but it was on the worst team ever so it amounts to a hill of beans at this point.
Each rookie needs devt doesnt matter who he is. Even Luka Euro MVP needs to work on his shot. At least with Mobley he knows he has work cut out for him just like Giannis. Giannis super raw but he knew he is raw he puts in the work now he is more skilled than Ben Simmons who was a lot more polished. Edwards felt he was already amazing we dont know if he will put in work or not. Sometimes the more skilled they already are the less willing they are to improve even more see Melo, Simmons, Okafor etc.
Kind of hard to imagine that being true given that you call Porter a "misfit" and he thoroughly outplayed Green head to head just a few months back. I'm thinking you are selling KPJ and Wood VERY short, and overrating unknowns.
