Just look at this evidence. No doubt Mobley is way shorter than Green and Cade. If Cade stood straight up he'd be at least a head taller than Mobley.

I will get a lot of push back on this, but Brown is a better athlete than Green in some important ways. Green is a plus athlete, but he isn’t Jordan or Drexler or McGrady athletically. He isn’t even Harden or Brown, who had incredible body control and power. Green is a good enough athlete to be a top scorer, but he isn’t someone that has that single athletic skill you point to and say is special.

His physical comp is easily Lavine

Both are 6'4 barefoot, both are 180, both wingspans 6'7/6'8, both are great leapers

Scouts do say he has good body control, but obviously, at 180 he doesn't have the frame for elite power

you should listen to the whole podcast. They might be completely wrong of course. They’re not NBA scouts just podcasters. But ones I’ve always liked and they actually take a deep dive into game tape.

they kind of address each of your comments. Like on wingspan, they claim in to be in the 7’4 range “or thereabouts”. Which may mean 7’6 but it doesn’t sound like it. I was led to believe that while he was light in the pants he was uniquely tall and lanky. But if you google wingspans - Capela, Embiid, Jokic, Ayton, Gobert, AD … they’re all in this range.

that’s just the measurement part they address every facet of his game and certainly don’t come away saying can he be KAT or better. They’re wondering if he can be a slightly better JJJ.

Before the game the talk is defense and intangibles along with unselfish play and after the game the talk is you gotta be able to put the ball in the basket more consistently.

I have listened to them before and they are entertaining. The idea that they feel betrayed by his measurables is odd because he was known to have those same measurements entering USC. His measurements and size really hasn’t changed at all. He was never hyped as having the reach or length of Gobert. He has legitimate center length and can move fluid and is a really good athlete… that package makes him rare.

KAT will likely be a better offensive player than Mobley. The problem with KAT is that he was supposed to be an elite defender and he is far from it.

I will listen to the rest of it later though, thanks.

He’s very short on the Rockets draft list

yeah. I wasn’t aware of his measurables in detail until the last month or so. So in my head he was definitely “longer” than someone like JJJ. To be fair… I didn’t know JJJ was so long. But basically I thought Mobley would be in the top say 3 or 4 of elite long big men that aren’t so long as to be I coordinated. Perhaps it’s fair to say he’s there … just with a lot more guys also there. I just thought the unique length would make up for the lack of unique bulk. No idea why they’d be surprised though.

I should re-read KATs scouting. Didn’t realize he was scouted as competent or better defensively.
